A solitaire engagement ring is a staple of proposals across the globe, accounting for around 70% of the entire engagement ring market.
The seamless blend of minimal simplicity and showstopping visuals makes the solitaire ring the perfect backdrop for your chosen stone. What gives the solitaire design its signature look is the claw or bezel in which the stone is set - when looking for the perfect ring, this is how you can identify a solitaire.
Shop Solitaire StyleA shoulder set design is similar to that of a halo ring, in that it features a prominent centre stone surrounded by smaller stones.
The key difference is that the smaller stones are placed upon a band that enshrines the main diamond. It is ‘paved’ with these closely set stones, which is where the name ‘pavé’ comes from. It is derived from the French for ‘paving stones’, a sentiment that transcends the full design. Each paving stone is set apart by minute metal settings, which give the glamorous illusion of each shoulder being sprinkled with diamonds.
Shop Shoulder Set StyleA halo ring is unmistakable. The name matches the design wonderfully.
Characterised by smaller diamonds, set closely around a larger centre stone, this ethereal design is flawless. One of the biggest draws of a halo ring is that the smaller stones give the centrepiece the illusion of size, whilst the sparkling finish sets the magic off remarkably.
Shop Halo StyleA three stone engagement ring (sometimes called a ‘trilogy engagement ring’) is very aptly named. They feature three diamonds or gemstones, each with their own specific meaning. One symbolises the past, another symbolises the present and the last symbolises the future.
The three stones of a trilogy ring perfectly capture what an engagement means - it is the most important chapter in your fairy tale. This is perhaps best displayed with the classic trilogy ring design - a larger centre stone with two smaller stones either side...perhaps a nod to how we should embrace love in the present moment.
Shop Three Stone StyleA vintage engagement ring is a fantastic choice for those who love the engagement ring styles of bygone eras, but who yearn to bestow upon it their own history instead of another’s.
When picking a vintage ring, you have some of the greatest periods for design to choose from, whether it be Edwardian, Georgian, Art Deco or even Art Nouveau. There are countless halcyon days to hark back to and with the benefit of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, you have an instant heirloom to be cherished throughout the generations.
Shop Vintage StyleA design that is exclusive to Steven Stone jewellers, the alt engagement ring style is for those who want to express themselves in a truly unique way.

For the ultimate diamond brilliance, the crisscut stands head and shoulders above anything else. This is because of its trademark 85 crisscrossed facets that allow vast swaths of light to reflect and refract from the diamond, leading to an emanating white glow that sparkles for eternity.

The collection
Searching for the perfect diamond engagement ring is an enchanting endeavour. It signals the start of a lifelong fairy tale with your partner and is a process to be cherished.
But it can be daunting.
With considerations to make about elements such as the best metal type, the shape of the diamond and the band style (and width) it can get overwhelming quickly. And that’s before you’ve considered the diamond quality and sizing.
Enter the Steven Stone engagement ring collection. The range is designed to radiate classic beauty from all angles whilst offering everyday practicality. It is a collection that eschews trends in favour of timeless style, meaning your ring can be passed down for generations to come.
The anatomy of an engagement ring
Educating yourself on the anatomy of an engagement ring is a vitally important step that you must take on your journey. Having the expertise and confidence to describe your true desires is essential to creating long-lasting synergy with your jeweller. That’s why we have created the Steven Stone education hub which ensures that you get the perfect ring, set in stone.
Whether it’s a traditional, precision-cut white diamond, a lab-grown tinted diamond, or precious coloured gemstones, we can get you the perfect finished creation. Our designs are priced without the centre stone. This is selected at the next stage of the journey. Would your partner prefer yellow, blue, peach or pink-coloured sapphires? Emeralds or rubies? Whatever it is, our industry-leading experts will guide you to where you need to be.
Diamond Shapes
The shape of your diamond or gemstone is arguably just as important as the stone itself. There are swaths of shapes to choose from, so presiding over the options alongside your jeweller is essential.
Contemporary shapes you can choose from are: round brilliant, asscher, radiant, cushion, oval, emerald, pear, marquise, heart, princess and crisscut. But if you want a more classic cut you can choose antique shapes such as rose cut, old mine cut and Old European cut.
The 4C’s
There are 4 C’s when it comes to diamonds - these are cut, clarity, colour and carat weight. It is essential that you find a balance of all 4 to get the ring you want.
The grading system based around the 4 C’s was developed by The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) so that there is consistency throughout the market. This means that if you were so inclined, you could pick your stone without having ever seen it, safe in the knowledge that it would be exactly as you desire. This is why it is vital that you learn the system alongside an experienced jeweller.
All of our diamonds here at Steven Stone are sourced from manufacturers who adhere to the United Nations Kimberley Process. Each and every stone is ethically sourced, whether that is in the form of a conflict free mine, a fully traceable, blockchain-enabled supply chain or an accredited lab.
Engagement rings look awe-inspiring. They radiate glamour and shimmer endlessly. But their meaning is more than skin-deep.
An engagement ring signals the intent to get married. It is a daily reminder of where it all started. It is sentiment and commitment personified which is why it carries so much meaning for couples all around the world.
Love is priceless. That is something we want to be clear on from the beginning.
You can spend as much or as little as you want on your engagement ring. What matters is that you and your partner are as in love as ever.
Whilst you want the best for your fiancé, price must be a consideration – especially when there’s a wedding to plan. At Steven Stone, we are confident that we will always give the best value for money. If you find a comparable piece of jewellery cheaper from a high street competitor, we will match the price. For more information, see our Price Match Guarantee. In summary, spend as much or as little as you are able to because no one should put a value on your love-it’s priceless.
Does that mean that the UK doesn’t value engagement rings as much as elsewhere? Absolutely not. In fact, it means the opposite. The modern UK client has shown that they like to explore all options before making an investment. This means that they spend more time with their jeweller going through ring shapes, metals, types of stone and their cut. They like to learn deeply about the ring and make the right decision for both partners before investing in the best engagement ring for them.
If planning a proposal wasn’t daunting enough, trying to work out your partner’s ring size adds another level completely all together.
What if it doesn’t fit? Will they be embarrassed? Will I be embarrassed?
These questions have run through every proposer-to-be’s head when trying to ascertain their loved one’s finger size.
Luckily, the Steven Stone ring size guide will tell you everything you need to know. It covers every eventuality, so you can focus on what’s important - getting a ring that shows you love them.
The Stone way stands for more. When we collaborate with our clients on bespoke commissions, we design, consult, source and create your engagement ring from scratch, right beside you.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not necessary to spend two month’s salary on the ring. What’s more important is spending what you can afford and getting the best quality for your money. You could also consider financing options – Steven Stone offers 0% finance and flexible deposits meaning that you can pay the cost of the ring over a fixed term.
Round brilliant diamonds are the most sought-after. The classic halo setting is very popular for engagement rings, whereby a large central diamond is surrounded by a circular collection of smaller pavé diamonds.
Steven Stone is proud to only offer diamonds certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), an independent, non-profit organisation that is the global authority on diamond grading and gem identification. Each stone comes with a report card detailing the specific analysis carried out on a diamond of any shape or size above 1 carat and features a comprehensive assessment of a stone’s 4Cs. Such grading measures enables the customer to competently compare stones like for like.
It would be almost impossible to guess an accurate ring size therefore your best bet is to purchase the ring and have it re-sized after your proposal. However any rings with diamonds set all the way round cannot be resized.
We provide discreet packaging for all postage orders on engagement rings.
If you would like your order delivered to a different delivery address please read over our conditions regarding this and contact us. We want to ensure all items are received by the correct person but we will accommodate your needs as much as possible.
