Erie County Legislator Howard Johnson has resigned from office.

Howard, who represented District 1, handed in his formal resignation letter to Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns Friday.

In it, he said it was a pleasure to work for the county for the last five years. 

Howard is expected to take a new position with the Erie County Board of Elections.
