R&D Associate Staff - Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Development and Advancement

We're seeking passionate early career scientists to contribute to groundbreaking research at the intersection of radiochemistry, chemistry, nuclear medicine, and biomedical engineering. This initiative aims to revolutionize the development and translation of radiopharmaceutical therapies for clinical applications through interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge innovation.

The research will focus on the advancement of radionuclide production and radiopharmaceutical development for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, and we are looking to fill positions in:

  • Enhancement of reactor-based radionuclide production with emphasis on fundamental production R&D (e.g., measuring cross sections) and targetry (e.g., target selection, target optimization, and target processing).
  • Development of separations chemistry and advanced automation for radionuclide processing.

Research Equip Tech-Isotope Harvesting - Res/Instruc Equipment Technologist II

The Research Equipment Technologist II – Isotope Harvesting Program (IHP) will support overall documentation, operation, maintenance, and repair of lab equipment relevant to isotope harvesting, quality control, and radiochemical separation/ purification processes.

Research Analytical Chemist II / Research Assistant II

Research Automation Technologist II / Res/Instruc Equipment Technologist II

The Research Automation Technologist II – Isotope Harvesting Program will collaborate closely with the R&D team (50%) and operations team (50%), supporting their efforts in designing, fabricating operating and maintaining automated fluidic system relevant to isotope harvesting, quality control, and radiochemical separation/ purification processes improvement.

Assistant Scientist - Radiochemistry

The BNL Isotope Group, which is part of the Medical Isotope Research and Production Program (MIRP), has an opening for an Assistant Scientist to aide in targetry development, isotope separations, radioanalytical techniques, evaluation, and development of new radioisotopes, and expanding the program into new areas. The Assistant Scientist will also participate in a DOE-sponsored program on radioisotope research and production with accelerator beams. We are seeking outstanding candidates in radiochemistry or nuclear chemistry to perform laboratory research involving the production and purification of accelerator formed radioisotopes. This position has a high level of interaction with an international and multicultural scientific community.

The main program focus is to produce and distribute radioisotopes for nuclear medicine research and clinical practice, and to develop radioisotopes for new applications in medicine and science. The group’s major facilities include the Brookhaven Linac Isotope Producer (BLIP), and a fully equipped hot laboratory with hot cells, radiochemistry research laboratories, and analytical equipment. The BLIP utilizes high intensity proton beams of up to 200 MeV. The MIRP program resides in the Collider-Accelerator Department.

Isotope Program Manager

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an Isotope Program Manager for our Radioisotope Research and Production Program (R2P2). The candidate will be responsible for managing the isotope science and engineering program within the Nuclear Technologies and National Security Directorate.  This program focuses on the synthesis, recovery and purification of medical radioisotopes with exceptional promise for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.  The Isotope Program Manager will be the primary technical point-of-contact for Argonne with the Office of Isotope Research, Development and Production and be responsible for leading planning, including strategy development, and managing the day-to-day activities and personnel of the program.  This role will lead a matrixed, cross-laboratory team and will work closely with the Isotope Production Manager and technical staff executing programmatic activities. The Program Manager will be responsible for guiding isotope research including the transition of new isotopes from R&D to production. The candidate will lead the development of experimental plans and safety documentation, experimentation and data analysis.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Yennello group at Texas A&M University has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position as part of a DOE-sponsored program on radioisotope research and production with accelerator beams. The successful candidate will be invited to participate in an interdisciplinary research project involving the production, purification, and characterization of At-211 and the incorporation of At-211 into inorganic and organometallic compounds. Candidates experienced in handling radioactivity are particularly encouraged to apply.  Knowledge in synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry is also desirable even if not strictly required.  The candidate should have strong writing and communications skills with the ability to work as part of a team. The successful candidates will also be expected to develop radiolabeling protocols for various compounds and to perform radiochemical separations. A quality assurance procedure for At-211 production will be developed over the tenure of this position. This position will involve the handling of radioisotopes that are beta, alpha, gamma, and/or PET emitters and may involve the handling of hazardous chemicals so attention to details is a must.  The molecular aspects of the project will be carried out with input from (or under the joint supervision of) François Gabbaï. Radiopharmaceutical Chemist

The University of Washington is seeking a passionate and dedicated candidate to join the Molecular Radiotherapy Research Laboratory in the Department of Radiation Oncology in the capacity of Research Scientist/Engineer, focusing on radiopharmaceutical chemistry. This role is pivotal to interdisciplinary collaborative research efforts. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in synthetic chemistry, antibody conjugation and radiochemistry. UW will provide all necessary training to ensure the successful candidate is equipped to excel in this role.


This position supports the development of novel reagents, including monoclonal antibody-based reagents. Additionally, this position is responsible for laboratory equipment maintenance, chemical inventory management and laboratory safety compliance. The position supports the efforts of preclinical and clinical studies as well as applications in diagnostic and targeted radionuclide therapy. Ultimately, this provides support for the patient care and advancement of care for cancer patients.
