NEWS
NEWS TRAINEE (R50025403
The News Trainee will learn the basics of television news writing and newscast producing in preparation for full-time regular employment at a broadcast station.
Essential responsibilities:
- Write scripts for FOX 5 Atlanta newscasts as assigned by newsroom producers and managers
- Write and coordinate reporter live shots and live talk-back interviews
- Build graphic elements for news broadcasts under deadline
- Assist in control room during newscasts
- Assist with digital responsibilities including creating web stories and social posts on multiple platforms
- Assist assignment editors by monitoring incoming e-mail, monitoring scanners, answering telephones and performing other duties as directed by newsroom managers and staff
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn newsroom computer systems
- Basic computer skills
- College degree preferably in Journalism or Broadcasting (recent graduates within one year)
SPECIAL PROJECTS EDITOR (R50025953)
The Special Projects Editor uses raw material to prepare video sequences for publication during newscasts and on digital platforms. Responsible for complex and high-profile editing assignments that may extend beyond a daily news production cycle, including program length editing.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Edit video sequences for air under deadline using editing software
- Work with colleagues to plan and conceptualize the narrative flow of long-term news projects from pre-production to completion
- Perform high-end post-production editing work, including color grading, special effects and audio mixing
- Edit raw material and utilize music, sound effects and graphics to enhance storytelling in long-form news projects
- Maintain high level of expertise in editing software and stay up to date with new releases
- Use software to restore and archive video in long-term storage
- Update scripts to indicate running times of video sequences and times for graphics to be added over video sequences during live newscasts and special news coverage
- Inform producers and writers about any discrepancies between written scripts and edited stories
- Prepare file video for use in the field as needed
- Assist Editing Coordinator by taking in feeds, restoring archive video, and making sure all elements in a rundown are online before deadline
Requirements:
- Demonstrated skills in video editing under daily deadline pressure
- Expertise with post-production editing software for creating motion graphics and special effects
- Familiarity with social media and clipping elements for use on those platforms
- Organizational skills (including strong digital organization)
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred
- Four years of experience at a commercial television station as a news video editor preferred
SALES
STREAMING SALES & INSIGHTS SPECIALIST (R50025628)
Do you want to play a key role in building a successful connected television/streaming business? Fox Television Stations is seeking to hire a newly created position within our local tv stations in Atlanta.
This Specialist role is one part marketer, one part data analyst and is fully involved from the pre-sales process all the way through to post ad campaign reporting.
Our ideal candidate for this job has worked in local media sales (not necessarily as a direct seller), is familiar with the ever-changing world of streaming advertising, possesses excellent communication skills and is adept at analyzing advertising performance data.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Working with the station sales team to create compelling advertising packages focused on delivering results for our customers
- Monitoring ongoing campaign results within the FLX platform
- Developing insights-focused, data driven stories as part of our post-campaign reporting
- Accompanying the sales team on both new business pitches and ongoing account meetings
Job requirements

CREATIVE SERVICES
CREATIVE SERVICES TRAINEE (R50025934)
The Creative Services Trainee will gain extensive hands-on experience covering various duties in preparation for full-time employment at a broadcast TV station. The Trainee will be immersed in creative development and multimedia production, supporting FOX 5’s news, lifestyle, entertainment, sports programming and associated digital channels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide hands-on assistance with Creative Services production, including lighting, grip, electric, camera, audio, scripts, and teleprompter operation.
- Actively learn to curate, pitch, write, and produce content ideas, ensuring relevance and alignment with our station's brands, shows, digital products, and associated audiences.
- Create multimedia elements, including video edits and spots for broadcast, digital media, or internal use.
- Network and build rapport within the organization to cultivate collaborative relationships.
- Display initiative by pitching and testing new ideas to bring a fresh perspective to the team.
- Extend reach and engagement through savvy social media and digital marketing tactics.
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

PRODUCTION
PRODUCTION TRAINEE (R50025956)
The Production Trainee will learn the basics of television production in preparation for full-time regular employment at a broadcast station.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Floor director during live and pre-taped broadcasts.
- Must be able to read a rundown and follow changes as they occur.
- Must get talent to their correct positions on time.
- Must operate ETC lighting board, JIB camera, target Vinten robotic pedestals, etc.
- Loads and operates prompter.
Requirements:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in English grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Must be able to take direction, work well with others, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- College degree preferably in Journalism or Broadcasting, and be a recent graduate (within one year or less).
