Andy Murray was denied a second Wimbledon swansong of the week on Saturday as Emma Raducanu withdrew from their mixed doubles clash. The British duo were scheduled to take on Marcelo Arevalo and Shuai Zhang on Centre Court, before the 21-year-old pulled out because of stiffness in her wrist.

Murray was given an emotional send off after teaming up with brother Jamie for a men’s doubles clash against Rinky Hijikata and John Peers on Thursday night.

A whole host of current stars and Wimbledon heroes lined the court to watch a teary Murray speaking to Sue Barker as footage of the Olympic gold medallist’s achievements was screened on court.

Barker returned to Centre Court after leaving her role with the BBC two years ago. The 68-year-old has since spoken out about her decision to quit the corporation after fronting their Wimbledon coverage for 30 years.

Emma Raducanu crashed out of the singles competition a day after withdrawing from mixed doubles with Murray, while defending champion Carlos Alcaraz advanced in four sets past Ugo Humbert.

Emma Raducanu responds to Judy Murray

Emma Raducanu has insisted that Judy Murray "didn't mean" any harm by her social media post claiming that it was "astonishing" for the US Open champion to pull out of mixed doubles with her son Andy.

Raducanu cited wrist soreness as the reason why she cancelled Andy Murray's final Wimbledon appearance, before playing in the singles competition the next day.

Speaking after her three-set defeat to Lulu Sun, Raducanu explained that she hadn't seen Judy's reaction but doubted whether there was any malice behind it.

Emma Navarro advances at expense of Coco Gauff

Emma Navarro is through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals after winning an all-American affair, defeating Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-3.

All top three seeds are now out of the competition and Navarro has made her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

Gauff, who has come unstuck at SW19 once again in her best chance to win the title, was second-best from the go and Navarro will next face Jasmine Paolini.

Carlos Alcaraz speaks out on Raducanu's Murray snub

Carlos Alcaraz has given his take on Emma Raducanu pulling out of mixed doubles with Andy Murray.

Raducanu cited wrist soreness for her withdrawal, before playing the next day and exited the singles competition to Lulu Sun.

“It’s a difficult situation," Alcaraz began. "She said she was going to play mixed doubles with Andy in the last Wimbledon of his career... I’m sure she didn’t want to pull out of the mixed doubles. She had her reasons to do it.

"I guess physical problems. I don’t know, she’s facing the fourth round of a Grand Slam at Wimbledon, I think it’s special for her playing in England.

"I’m sure a lot of players in her position would do the same thing as her. Obviously, knowing it’s his last Wimbledon is difficult to deal with.”

Teary Lulu Sun hails Emma Raducanu

Lulu Sun was lost for words as she attempted to speak after booking her place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

She was gracious in victory over Emma Raducanu, covering her eyes as she and her family in the stands wept in celebration of her maiden Grand Slam quarter-final win.

“Emma… it was a great match against her and she really dug deep in there to get the win from me so I really had to fight tooth and nail against her," she said.

"Because she’s going to fight with every ball until the end and I am just incredibly… I don’t even have the words right now.”

Emma Raducanu OUT of Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon run has come to an end in an injury-ravaged defeat to Lulu Sun.

The New Zealander stormed the first set, before Raducanu quickly rallied to set up a decider.

She suffered a nasty fall early into the third, adding to her woes after pulling out of mixed doubles with Andy Murray yesterday, and was unable to recover as she went down 6-2 5-7 6-2.

Sun is in tears on the court as she struggles to get through her post-match interview.

Emma Raducanu suffers nasty fall

Emma Raducanu required treatment from the physio and called a medical time-out after suffering a nasty fall in her match with Lulu Sun.

The Brit dove for the ball and stayed on the floor, clutching her leg in pain before going over to the sideline for lengthy work by the medical staff.

The physio is also looking at Raducanu's back, which she has clutched on several occasions throughout the contest.

The 21-year-old has returned to the court, however, with almost the entirety of a deciding set to follow.

Emma Raducanu takes second set

Emma Raducanu has fought back and sent Centre Court into raptures with her 7-5 second-set win against Lulu Sun.

The Brit looked despondent early after going down in the first, but has sent the match to a decider.

Raducanu let out a loud roar after first sending a strong forehand winner down the line, before taking the set with to jubilant SW19 scenes.

Novak Djokovic provides worrying injury update

Novak Djokovic has alarmingly claimed that "everything is far from OK" as he continues his recovery from knee surgery at Wimbledon.

The Serb has come through three rounds to set up a last-16 tie with Holger Rune tomorrow, but is still harbouring fitness concerns going into the clash.

"I'm glad you think everything is OK, that's how it should work, but everything is far from OK," he told Serbian media.

"Well, about that another time - the movement was a lot better compared to the first two matches, I'm more free in that context, but everything is far from OK, I'm constantly working on the table to get ready for each subsequent match."

Emma Raducanu loses first set

Emma Raducanu has struggled in her fourth-round clash with Lulu Sun, going down 6-2 in the first set.

The Brit walked onto Centre Court seemingly high on confidence, one win away from a quarter-final berth, but has struggled in the early stages.

She was forced to pull out of mixed doubles with Andy Murray due to wrist soreness, but it remains to be seen what impact that will have on this match.

That was the first set all tournament that Raducanu had dropped and she was eyeing a repeat of her US Open victory, when she claimed a historic win without losing a single set.

Carlos Alcaraz reaches quarter-finals

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is into the final eight after a 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 win over Ugo Humbert.

Alcaraz initially suffered with his serve and survived a scare in the third set, but especially thanks to an incredible set point in the second was able to continue his run on grass.

"Unbelievable I guess," Alcaraz said when discussing his second set point. "I mean I just (laughs) I just tried to fight every ball, every point. Doesn't matter which part of the court I am.

"I just try to run and give myself the chance to stay alive in the point. But even more important is like this one, set point is a really important point for me so I had to show the opponent that it doesn't matter if he's gonna shoot, that I’m gonna be there.

"That’s myself, fighting until the last ball. Sometimes it’s a pretty good point like this one, sometimes I lose it."

Madison Keys retires in tears on verge of win

American star Madison Keys was serving for a place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the second time against Jasmine Paolini, but broke down in tears after she was forced to retire.

Leading 5-4 in the deciding set, Keys suffered a hamstring injury and left Court 1 to receive treatment, returning seven minutes later with heavy strapping.

But she was visibly uncomfortable and had to stop, bursting into tears as she left the court.

Novak Djokovic sends 'endangered' tennis warning

Novak Djokovic has warned tennis that they face a big threat from pickleball and padel, with club tennis "endangered" moving forward.

Growth of similar racket sports has made a dent in tennis' popularity, despite huge crowds flocking to Wimbledon, as Djokovic issued a very clear message.

“Now we have the padel … that is growing and emerging," Djokovic said. "People kind of have fun with it and say: ‘Yeah, but tennis is tennis.’ Tennis is the king or queen of all the racket sports, that’s true. But on a club level, tennis is endangered.

“If we don’t do something about it, as I said, globally or collectively, padel, pickleball in [the] States, they’re going to convert all the tennis clubs into padel and pickleball because it’s just more economical.

“You have one tennis court. You can build three padel courts on one tennis court. You do the simple math. It’s just much more financially viable for an owner of a club to have those courts.”

Rain lashing down as thunder heard

The rain is lashing down onto the Centre Court and Court One roofs, with the weather taking a turn for the worse in recent moments.

The umbrellas are up and and thunder can also be heard around SW19.

The signs aren't looking good.

Alcaraz match underway

Carlos Alcaraz's fourth round showdown against Ugo Humbert is also now underway on Centre Court. The Spaniard is big favourite for this match after winning the men's title last year.

Still no play on outside courts

We still haven't had any play on the outside courts yet today because of the bad weather, but the showdown between Jasmine Paolini and Madison Keys on Court One is set to get underway soon.

Readers give verdict on Murray retirement

Tennis fans have warned Andy Murray against attempting to play in the Wimbledon singles one last time next year.

The 37-year-old is set to bring the curtain down on his career later this year after teaming up with brother Jamie in the Wimbledon doubles earlier in the week.

In a poll of Express Sport readers, 74 per cent say Murray should retire without another appearance in the Wimbledon singles. However, over a quarter insist that the Scot should prolong his career and return next year.

Djokovic suggests rule change

Novak Djokovic has called on tennis chiefs to shelve five-set matches in the early rounds of Grand Slam tournaments and instead introduce best-of-three showdowns.

The Serbian presented his argument as he passionately addressed the media after defeating Alexei Popyrin at Wimbledon last night.

Djokovic, who has won the Wimbledon title seven times, was asked in a press conference after the clash for his thoughts about playing three sets in Grand Slams instead of five.

And the 37-year-old replied: “I think they should stay best-of-five. The only thing that I'm maybe thinking it could be good to consider is the opening rounds that could go best-of-three.

“Then you move into the hybrid of best-of-fives from the fourth rounds or quarters. That's just me, my thinking.”

Judy Murray speaks out again

Judy Murray has claimed she was being sarcastic when she appeared to criticise Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon mixed doubles withdrawal.

Raducanu was scheduled to team up with Andy Murray to play in the tournament but pulled out due to a sore wrist, with tennis presenter Marcus Buckland writing on social media that the 21-year-old’s move was “astonishing”. And Judy Murray replied: “Yes, astonishing.”

Many fans thought the 64-year-old was having a pop at the 2021 US Open winner. But Judy has returned to X and has explained: “Not sure anyone understands sarcasm these days. Pretty sure the scheduling (4th match court 1 with a singles following day) will have played a major part in any decision making.”

Guardiola offered coaching role

Pep Guardiola swapped football for tennis yesterday as he headed to Wimbledon. And after watching Alexander Zverev’s victory over Cam Norrie on Centre Court, Guardiola was told by the German player: “Thanks a lot for coming. It's a great privilege, a great honour to play.

“And by the way, last thing, Bayern Munich needs a coach, man. And if you're tired of football, you can teach me on the tennis court any time.”

Sue Barker speaks about BBC return

Sue Barker has admitted she would be willing to return to front the BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon. The 68-year-old left the corporation in 2022 after spending 30 years as the face of the BBC at SW19.

After being asked by The Mirror if she would consider a return, she explained: “Yes, I would. I loved it. I loved the people and I didn’t want to leave.

“But you start hearing rumours of what is happening and [the BBC] obviously wants the next generation. And when you start hearing those rumours you think, “Maybe it’s time to get out while they still want me rather than being shoved out of the back door.”

Good morning!

Good morning and welcome to our live coverage of Wimbledon on day seven of the tournament.

Andy Murray was denied another Wimbledon farewell last night following Emma Raducanu’s withdrawal from their mixed doubles match.

But there will be plenty of exciting action today as Raducanu returns to the court for singles after reigning men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz plays in the fourth round.
