NCIS’ beloved Tony and Ziva are getting their own spin-off so here’s everything there is to know about the drama so far.

Tony DiNozzo (played by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) were finally reunited onscreen in season 17 when she joined him and then daughter Tali in Paris after faking her own death to protect them.

Now, after years of CBS viewers eagerly hoping to see them back on the small screen, their prayers were answered following the announcement of the Tony and Ziva spin-off last year.

Set in Europe, the 10-episode drama will see Tony and Ziva living their lives when his security firm is attacked, forcing the former agents to go on the run.

They will have to learn to trust one another again as they try to figure out who’s behind the attack, while Ziva continues to contend with the difficult relationship with their daughter.

NCIS: Tony and Ziva will be filmed in Budapest and various other European locations this summer and DiNozzo’s latest Instagram post indicates shooting has now begun.

Sharing a photograph of him sunbathing, the actor and the co-executive producer wrote: “The beginning of a new era has begun within the #ncisverse #tony&ziva."

It has been reported that the drama is currently searching for a teenager to portray the ex agents’ daughter Tali who was not even two-years-old when she appeared in NCIS.

The upcoming series will also feature a “Russian hacker and a French liaison”, according to Screen Rant.

There has been no word on any of Tony and Ziva’s old colleagues joining them on the spin-off but CBS Studios President David Stapf commented “never say never”.

A release date hasn’t been announced either with the likelihood being that the series is to come out either at the end of this year or at the start of 2025.

Speaking of his hopes for the show on TikTok, Weatherly said: "You know, I really am looking forward to doing a version of NCIS where it really ups the stakes in terms of a long – it's 10 episodes of one long story.

"Right, so it's like a 10 hour movie. Limited series is what they call it, I guess, but it really allows you to explore the character arc with each episode being a reset.

"So week to week we're going to be able to tell this sort of serialised story that I think is going to bring a lot more depth to the characterisation and to the relationships and we're going to be able to do not as much recaps and exposition."

NCIS is available to watch on CBS and Disney+ while NCIS: Tony and Ziva is expected to come out in late 2024 or early 2025 on Paramount+.
