BBC Breakfast: John admits 'not my finest moment' after pub mistake

BBC Breakfast's John Watson was mocked by his co-star after he suffered an awkward blunder live on air.

The sports presenter spoke to hosts Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell live from a pub in Germany during Tuesday's (July 9) show as England prepare to play in the UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final.

He attempted show off his pint-pulling skills but things didn't go quite to plan for the TV star and the mishap didn't go unnoticed by his collegues in the Manchester studio.

Sarah said: "Shall we talk Euros because it's quite a big couple of days and John is in Dortmund. He pulled a dreadful pint, I have to say, at the top of the hour so hopefully the head as finally gone off that.

A red-faced John replied: "I hold my hands up there. It wasn't my finest moment was it?" before going on to discuss England's upcoming clash against the Netherlands on Wednesday (July 9).

It comes just weeks after John was forced to give up his live report after it was disrupted. During Thursday's instalment (June 13) of the programme, John presented live from Munich to share the latest Euros news.

After a pre-recorded interview aired, John attempted to continue his broadcast but he was halted as a huge lorry pulled up beside him.

He said: "Hopefully we avoid getting run over here in the Munich square this morning. I think that's probably our sign to leave, isn't it?"

Presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt could be heard laughing from the studio at the time as John’s segment was disrupted.

Charlie quipped: "Some things are the same wherever you go, you’re doing a live and the bin lorry or the truck always turns up. It’s the same everywhere, right?"

John agreed: "It’s always bin lorries at this time of the morning. Love it, live TV."

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am
