Corrie legend Roy Cropper could be set to take a break from the cobbles.

The beloved soap character, played by David Neilson, has been on the soap since 1995. And it’s fair to say he’s become a firm favourite with viewers.

However, over in the soap this year, he found himself involved in a harrowing storyline. Fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren (Cait Fitton) went missing earlier this year - with Roy being the last known person to see her alive.

And it didn’t take long for Roy to become DS Lisa Swain's number one suspect. Things then took a dramatic turn when Roy ended up getting arrested for Lauren‘s murder.

The beloved character was sent to jail - much to the shock of fans and the Weatherfield residents. However, copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) planted Lauren’s DNA in paedophile Nathan Curtis’s (Christopher Harper) van.

He ended up framing him for the crime - this meant Roy was able to leave prison. But in reality, viewers learned the truth about Lauren’s disappearance: it was actually down to solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

Roy has since returned to the street - but is struggling to get back to normal. In episodes this week, he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital after a group of yobs terrorised him on the street.

And over in the soap next week, it appears Roy is considering taking a break from the cobbles.

Spoilers reveal that Nina (Mollie Gallagher) calls to collect Roy from the hospital, but he tries to cover his nervousness at the thought of leaving.

In the flat above his cafe, Nina fusses over Roy, glad to have him home. She then suggests that Roy spend a few days at pal Cathy’s in Scarborough.

But will Roy take Nina's advice and visit Cathy? Find out in Coronation Street next week.
