Virgin River season six is on the way but what are the latest updates regarding its pending comeback?
The heartwarming Netflix drama was last seen for its two-part Christmas special back in November, with subscribers already promised a sixth season.
Eight months have now passed so here’s everything there is to know about the return of Virgin River.
Virgin River season six updates
Filming for Virgin River season six began in February 2024 in Vancouver after initially being delayed by the actors and writers strikes, as well as issues with the weather.
It has since been announced that shooting wrapped up as scheduled at the end of May so the drama is now in post-production.
There is no official release date as of yet but according to Deadline, the series is going to land on Netflix sometime in 2025.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith shared that season six is going to consist of 10 episodes much like series one to three, in comparison to the fourth and fifth outings.
In terms of the cast, fans should expect Virgin River’s main stars to return with Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan.
Also returning are Tim Matheson as Doc Mullins, Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea, Benjamin Hollingsworth as Brady and Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie and Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts, just to name a few.
Actor John Allen Nelson will also be returning as Mel’s biological dad Everette Reid after showing up in the fifth season.

An official plot synopsis hasn’t been revealed just yet but showrunner Smith previously told Deadline that there would be another time jump following the Christmas special last year.
He went on to share that fans are going to finally find out what Everett has to tell Mel in that all-important cliffhanger.
On top of this, he promises “more Mel and Jack, reveals Doc’s prognosis, shares whether Paige would be back and hints at how long Lizzie would be pregnant on the show."
