Man arrested for 'murder' after baby found dead in London street

A baby was found dead at the scene when Met Police officers arrived on Monday afternoon.

An man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was found dead in a London street yesterday evening.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4pm on Monday, July 9 to reports of a "concern for welfare" in Camden, north London.

When they arrived at the incident on Taviton Street, a baby was found dead. The cause of the tragedy is not yet known, as enquiries continue into the circumstances. It appears that no arrests have been made so far.

A Met Police spokesman told Express.co.uk: "Police were called to Taviton Street, WC1, to reports of a concern for welfare.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene. A baby was sadly found dead.

"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody. Enquiries continue into the circumstances."
