An acupuncturist has revealed a 20-second nightly routine designed to enhance sleep quality.

Sharing his method on Instagram, Mehdi Khodakhah claims this brief routine will ensure you "sleep like a baby," swiftly falling asleep and enjoying restorative rest. He outlines six distinct facial massage techniques, advising that each should be performed for 20 seconds. The entire process takes only 120 seconds, equivalent to the time spent brushing your teeth.

However, he advises applying oil or moisturizer before starting to minimise friction and prevent wrinkles formation during the massage.

According to Boots, not only is a facial massage good for making your skin look better, but it's great for relaxation. They explain: "Facial massage works as a great way to re-centre at the end of a long day. In fact, it can act as a form of touch therapy."

Research suggests that massage not only lowers cortisol, the stress hormone, but it can also increase the levels of serotonin and dopamine, the hormones associated with happiness, thereby enhancing mood and easing tension at various levels. A wide array of techniques and facial massage tools are at your disposal, each offering a multitude of benefits. Dedicating merely two minutes for a facial massage in the evening could significantly enhance your sleep quality and your feelings the following day.
