Bicyclist dies after suffering serious head injury in Manchester, N.H., hit-and-run crash

A 71-year-old bicyclist died after suffering a serious head injury sustained in a hit-and-run crash last Wednesday in Manchester, NH, officials said.

Manchester Police received a report of “an accident involving a car and bicycle” at approximately 3:45 p.m., police said.

They arrived at the scene to find a “71-year-old man lying on the pavement on Central St. suffering from a serious head injury,” police said. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.

The accident took place in the area of Central and Union Streets, Manchester police said.

Witnesses told police they saw a black vehicle collide with the bicycle in the intersection, police said. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene eastward on Central St.

It was reported that the car looked to be “a black Nissan Rogue with possible veteran’s plates,” police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
