Program: The real Elena Ferrante

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

A few days ago, the true identity of Elena Ferrante the best-selling Italian novelist known for the My Brilliant Friend novels set in Naples was revealed by the New York Review of Books.

The article claims that the woman who writes under the Elena Ferrante pseudonym is in fact Anita Raja, a translator who works for the publishing house that publishes Ferrante's work.

In the days since the revelation, many cultural critics and Ferrante fans have been highly critical of the decision to unmask Ferrante's identity.
