Student Support Certificate
Faculty & Staff Professional Development
My name is Madeline, I am the Mental Health Educator and Wellness Strategist here at Trent. I also coordinate the Student Support Certificate for staff and faculty wishing to get further training about how to best support students.
The Student Support Certificate is a series of workshops geared toward academic and non-academic staff who have direct contact with students. These courses aim to enhance the capacity of Trent faculty and staff members to effectively assist students in a variety of situations, and to help create a supportive environment that builds students’ life skills and ability to cope with a range of issues.
Below you will find information regarding workshop content, date, time, location, and how to register. Kindly be aware that the registration deadline for all workshops is set 24 hours prior to the scheduled event. Please confirm with your manager that your attendance will not negatively impact departmental operations prior to registering.
January 2024 Update: In response to valuable feedback, we are excited to announce that we’re working to introduce asynchronous options for select workshops later this year. We appreciate your understanding as we work towards expanding this program to accommodate more of our staff and faculty members.
If you are a student seeking to expand your skills, please see STEPS (Skills To Enhance Peer Support). While we do accept student staff case by case, this series is intended for staff and faculty.
