Make a difference!

Expand your horizons with talks to learn more about the world, trips to go and see it first hand, or opportunities to connect with the people and communities around you.

Commuter Students

The Students’ Union supports students that live off campus, including students who live at home or in privately rented houses with non-UoM students.

There are many reasons why students might see themselves as commuter students, whether they’re living at home to save money, are a student parent or carer who already owns their home, or if they have a lengthy or complex journey onto campus.

We strive to address the specific needs of all these different groups.

What we can offer you as a commuter:

Lockers on campus
A home away from home - a living at home dedicated lounge space at the Dover Street Building as well as study space within our building
Access to Recreation grant – a grant to cover costs of society involvement
Support for our Commuter Student Society

New this year

Commuter Cafe

We’ll be launching this in September. You can find out more about this by talking to our stalls at the Welcome Fairs.
