Hi, Phaedriel!

[edit]

Thanks for the lovely flower! I only noticed the above message because I watchlisted you after you added to Banes' user page design. ;) Oh, and here's a present! 谢谢 (Simplified Chinese) Sango123 (talk) 01:13, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work

[edit]

Nice upgrade to your user page! Its very..... blue. Or purple, (I'm colour blind!). Or it could be pink. Ah, who knows..... Anyway, you seem like you're right into this wikipedia thingy. I nearly forgot you were new! Anyway, pop around my talk, not many of my friends visit my talk any more, (sob). See ya round.... Spawn babe, :). BTW, What kind of music do you like? Also, it's kinda cool how you've got American Indian in you...

BTW, You're welcome to try my hardest questions in the world section on my user page... Spawn Man 07:30, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gorgeous! If only the rest of Wikipedia could look so nice. --kingboyk 13:57, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Hi Phaedriel, I have been monitoring the recent activity on the RC page and I have noticed minor vandalism here and there... the problem that I am having is doing rollbacks or reverting it to the original content. Can I do this as just an ordinary user and if so how? Thanks for your help. xerocs 15:55, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Something for the decor

A flower for the lady. I hope it doesn't clash
You are doing an amazing amount to make the joint a nicer and more pleasing place to spend some time. Thank you. Here is a small token from me -- a poppy I found on my way to the Emerald City with my friend Dorothy, the Tin Man, and that fraidy cat Lion. Geogre 16:10, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, thank you for the wikibirthday cake! It's kinda cool that on my one year anniversary I also performed my 10,000 edit...gee, I wonder if I planned that...actually I did, but only a few dyas ago....thanks for noticing, and again, thank you for your kindness.--MONGO 02:14, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unabashed plagiarism

[edit]
A bright thank you!

Assuming that by now you have a vast backlog of requests, I've begun applying some of your ideas to my userpage in the meantime. I hope you agree "imitation is the sincerest of flattery." [1] But, I would be grateful if you could take a look sometime, if you ever have a moment to spare. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 06:52, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to give you a butterfly, since you already have a flower, to express my thanks, surprise and delight in my new blueish userpage, but even hampered by my male genes, I can tell that Polygonia gracilis does not harmonize with the background. So, I'm leaving a lighthouse bright thank you to someone who knows how to make even dull things look interesting. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 05:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I love it!

Fantastic work! Have a barnstar :P I've semi-protected my userpage... you should be able to edit it if you want to do the honours! - Ta bu shi da yu 07:05, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Looks great, and makes me look good :P - Ta bu shi da yu 02:48, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you don't mind but I borrowed the formatting you used for TBSDY's page to re-do mine, which went from drab to fab. I've given you due credit, in the spirit of our GFDL, and wouldn't be too offended if you put any finishing touchs on the page should you feel them warranted. See you round! Harro. 5 07:00, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The changes helped heaps, because now the columns don't go funny if I'm looking at my Favourites on IE. Thanks! I'll be looking out for future work of yours on other people's pages. For too long we've just typed until we filled up scrolls worth of space on our pages, but you're starting a revolution. Harro5 23:52, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a hi and a thanks

I haven't tried that lupin tool yet, but when I get home tonight I will. I was wondering some things... 1) How do you get the little star awards? 2) How do I kno whow many edits I have done... I haven't been keeping track. Thanks for keeping tabs on me while I get my feet wet. xerocs 21:56, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I added Lupins tool and you're right, I am disoriented. I can't seem to find the Rv button that makes reverts easy... I read his page on counter vandalism and the use of the tool but it didn't really help... any suggestions? Thank you, by the way, for the award. xerocs 20:57, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... Still not getting a pop-up or a drop down box. I will have to check it from my home computer, it could be the settings on my work computer. Ready for more questions? I was looking at the way you have your awards set up, the gallery, how do I get my stuff to go into a gallery like that? I tried the {{gallery}} thing but it reformatted my whole page. I have been trying to get my anti-vandal and rc patroller tabs to go in a list but they just want to stay the way they are... any suggestions on formatting guidelines? Thanks for all of your help so far. Kisses xerocs 17:32, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Proposition

[edit]

Hi there, I came across your name when dropping in on my friend KnowledgeOfSelf, so I decided to check out your page. In doing so, I discovered that you love to design userpages, so I was wondering if you would (pretty please) take a look at mine, and see what you can do. If you don't have the time, thats ok, but I really wish you'd help. The look Im going for is a mixture of User:Ta bu shi da yu and User:MONGO.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I've taken a look at the pages, and I'm extremely impressed. I absolutely love the color scheme, especially on the first page; Ill chose that one. Thank you so very much. Now what Im going for (and maybe this this will take a day or two) is a change in the layout. Something like yours or Ta bu....'s. I know that the center alignment looks pretty, but after a while, it becomes a drag. If you don't mind, could I tamper around in your sandbox and give a little hand? Sorry to be causing so much trouble. I promise I'll pay you. How about a barnstar per hour. Does that rate sound fine lol?

PS: Feel free to remove anything from my page that you consider ugly or obstructive. Oran e (t) (c) (e) 21:12, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Phaedriel, for your support in my RfA. If you ever need for anything, please contact me. I can see the future, and it won't be long before you will join the admin ranks, and that will be for the good. I will do my best in my new role and welcome your feedback. Design

[edit]

Hi, since you like helping those in need, could you please help me make a half-decent userpage. My current one sucks! Latinus 18:56, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, Phaedriel, it's great! Thanks! Take the Graphics Designer Barnstar - I know it's mostly for image files (graphics), but for you, it's been extended ;-) Latinus 08:48, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your new design is spendid and so are you! It looks good with both the Monobook and Cologne Blue skins (I didn't try the others) and over a wide range of page widths as well. Amazing! May I occasionally swap pictures in and out from Commons:User:Wsiegmund? Also, I wonder if you would be kind enough add text or a graphic like Design by Phaedriel somewhere? I suspect that early Phaedriel designs will confer high Wikipedia status before long! I'm in your debt. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 22:19, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WOW!!!

[edit]

WOW, and I'm not just saying that. Wow, I'm speechless. I absolutely love it! You are a genius. Thank you so much. Here are a couple of well deserved awards; please accept them, I won't take "no" for an answer. I'm very sorry that I have no time to chat— Im currently doing my History Assignment (Im supposed to design a travel brochure about a country that was once colonised by the British blah, blah, blah), but I just had to thank you. Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that you're the next one in my backlog for a new design for your user page. Boy, that sure is a lot of userboxes! Unless you want me to do something different, I'll try and keep them all. As usual, please just give me a day before submitting the final design to you. Sounds good to you, my dear Aussie? =) Kisses, Phædriel tell me - 22:21, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind if you keep them or not. The idea of having them there was to fill up space. Feel free to use and abuse my userpage to your heart's content, and make it look halfway decent. I don't mind if you link to my userboxes off the main userpage or WHAT happens. Thanks, Werdna648T/C\@ 23:12, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

AAAH! Help! I cant fit a new barnstar into my userpage, its all gone funny now. Can you help me please? I may need a new barnstar/awards section and have my pictures fitting in somewhere else. I would really appreciate it if you could assist me here. Thanks Banez 07:17, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Phaedriel, for putting in those barnstars for me so nicely! I'm sure you took the time to observe that I've recieved three barnstars in two days?? :) I'm on a roll!! You are really kind. It is a great thing when someone does you a favour and helps you out when you ask for it. But it is truly wonderful when someone like you just comes out of the blue and helps out. Aw...<hug> Thanks, Phaedriel. I'm studying big time for a test coming up...that's why I'm on even more now...but I appreciate your kind words...is it just me, or do kind words mean more than barnstars? I appreciate the fact that you read my "statement" thing (what a stupid title...couldn't think of anything better). What more can I say? Thanks so much for being a terrific WikiFriend. re:occult-stub

[edit]

hi. im answering this for grutness becuase his computer has crashed and he wont be online for a few days (we know each other offline so were in touch outside wikipedia). i know he is a neopagan himself and also there was a request for it to be changed to the upright pentagram from the inverted one becuase the inverted one was seen as being wrong and emphisising the dark side of things (theres a small discussion on it at WP:WSS/P). BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 03:22, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BL's right - I changed it because of a request to do so, since those walking the lighter path, shall we say, were annoyed at the inverted pentacle. Ideally a more neutral symbol acceptable to both should probably be used, but I'm not sure what... we haven't got a good image of the tree of life online, or that might be possible, or maybe the Eye of providence, or an ankh? Suggestions are welcome... Grutness...wha? 08:11, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey... looking at your user page, I saw your offer about user page prettification. If you'd like to modify mine, I would be very pleased to have you do so. Basically, I want to keep the various elements I have there, but a tasteful bit of color and structure couldn't hurt it. I leave it to your discretion. Quanah's poem

[edit]

Hey, Phaedriel... I don't know why it didn't sink in before now, but...do you mind this? I'm not sure if it violates a copyright, since it was on your userpage? (Mind telling me where you got it, just out of curiousity?) Grazie! Ciao--ViolinGirl 18:53, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi VG! It is so beautiful, isn't it? It is an anonymous poem, and it is in fact the epitaph of Quanah Parker, and was written on his tombstone when he was buried in 1911. You can read further on this at the following webpages, if the matter interests you: [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]. So as you see, it is to the best of my knowledge in the public domain as it is an anonymous public inscription, and it also is 95 years old. So no, it's not a copvio. Feel free to use it if you like it. I always felt it transmitted the very essence of the spirit of Quanah, and in it, that of the Comanche. Regards! - Phædriel tell me - 22:02, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much...I was thinking of it being a copyvio because of the creative thing, can't think of the lisence name right now, and didn't want to read all the restrictions, etc., before asking. It is BEAUTIFUL, and I love it. I love to read it aloud. *shiver* Thanks so much, Phaedriel...have a nice day!--ViolinGirl 22:41, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS Sorry about the header, Phaedriel...didn't even think of that! :D
The article on Wikipedia:Public domain links to a table that seems to suggest that the copyright on the Quanah Parker epitaph will not expire until 2033, 120 years from the date of creation, as an unpublished anonymous work. [9] I don't understand what practical effect this might have. Who would have an interest in enforcing such a copyright? Thanks for more on the provenance of the quotation.
At Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Beckjord#Have_no_idea_what_this_is_about_nor_how_you_do_it., one of the best rants I've seen was posted today. Someone who meets regularly with bigfoot fans and contributes POV to the topic, exhorts his fellow editors to, "Get a LIFE!", seemingly missing the humor in this.
I continue to take delight in my lovely userpage. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 01:28, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now "that", is news to me, Walt... yet, I still can't figure whether an epitaph would fall under the same category as an anonymous work susceptible of being published. The incredible amount of books, graphical reproductions and quoting it has received throughout the years (as early as 1921 in local newspapers, to the best of my knowledge) lead me to be somewhat sceptical as to whether it would qualify as such. That Bigfoot thing is making me curious - what exactly's going on with that article? I see Mongo's getting nuts fighting to keep it POV - maybe I should help there! =) I'm so delighted that you like your userpage, dear - whenever you feel it's time for a renewal, let me know and I'll experiment some more. Kisses! - Phædriel tell me - 01:45, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the mistletoe. It’s gorgeous! and I love being “special”…except when my violin teacher says it: “Why isn’t that [brand of] string working well on your violin? [Skeptical look at the violin:] You’re…very special.” ;) Thanks again for letting me use the poem. (Not sure how you feel about these things, but) It reminds me how we can see the beauty of the Lord, even though we can’t see Him. (And thanks for envisioning success for me in Italy…I’ll try my best!)--ViolinGirl 15:49, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
