Indian Protestants

[edit]

Not being an expert at this history, could someone weigh in on who stands out as the top five or so well-known or pivotal figures in Indian Christianity (Protestant)? My fear is that this template may soon have too many names and we need to develop a consensus about who were really prominent/influencing figures in history here.Brian0324 15:45, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A very valid point. The question of Protestant 'missions' is naturally conflated with the missionary activity of the Anglican Church in India itself; Reginald Heber and Bishop Cotton, for example, would view themselves as missionaries as well as prelates. I will think on this further. Hornplease 07:39, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly is the reason for including Ravi Zacharias on this series? The article doesn't really really talk all that much about India. Are the requirements for inclusion simply that they a Protestant from India? That seems a little broad too me. --Kraftlos (talk) 08:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, his inclusion would appear to be a case of trivial intersection between religious affiliation and country-of-birth. Additionally, Zacharias appears to have no relevance to "Protestant missions to India" -- the "Indian Protestants" section should be (prominent) "Indian Converts to Protestantism" (or similar) for it to fit into the missionary theme.
