I added the flax logo of the NI Assembly: think it's more suitable than the outline map. EamonnPKeane 17:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Using a copyrighted logo on a template does not constitute Fair Use. You can find out more at Wikipedia:Logos. You will probably agree that the map is much better than using a flag (the usual image on a Politics of ~ template)! « Keith t/e » 18:30, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The current image is from Commons and is dual-licensed with GFDL and CC licenses. However, having the Royal insignia on the template for such a controversial issue of which the Royal family come on one side seems unwise. Stannered (talk) 09:38, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Which is why we should stick with Image:Politicsofnorthernirelandlogo.svg as it is neutral.--Padraig (talk) 10:13, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Royal Arms are neutral as they are the image actually used on political documents. I don't understand what you mean about the Royal Family however, they are not from Northern Ireland and have their own personal arms.

This is not the Coat of Arms of Northern Ireland since 1973 with the passing of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973 after which the British Government was advised by the Sargent of Arms, that as the government these arms were granted to ubder Royal warrant no longer existed the arms could no longer be used.--Padraig (talk) 19:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Royal Arms always exist and I don't see what that 1973 Act has to do with anything. The Royal Arms are within the Queen's own personal powers. The use of the arms was pointed out before and supported by others.

Sorry but I refuse to discussion this with someone that can't even sign there posts, dispite being told numerous time to do and how to.--Padraig (talk) 20:54, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have to sign the post as it is done automatically. Your use of the English language is atrocious, yet I still manage to discussion [sic] with you. Yet again you fail to explain why you disagree with using the Royal Arms. The use of a national coat of arms is consistent in this site for political templates. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.161.93.126 (talk) 21:13, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Constant IP reversion is getting tiresome. SP'd for a month. BLACKKITE 00:23, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey all. The wikilink to "Politics of Northern Ireland" hits a redirect to "Demography and politics of Northern Ireland". I tried to fix it, but it eludes me. As I have a short attention span, I figured I would post this here. If someone knows how to correct the link and feels inclined to do so, have at it. --Bark (talk) 15:57, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Politics of Northern Ireland logo" already in use since April 2007

[edit]

Hi. A newcomer is trying to replace the current neutral logo, in use since April 2007, for a Royal insignia with no reference to the local government. I see that the unopposed use of the public-domain "Politics of Northern Ireland" image for more than two years constitutes enough consensus for keeping this logo in place. The reasons exposed by the editor on his latest summary, regarding that the Royal badge is used by the Assembly, Executive and Secretary office are only true for the latter, which is the only proper "British" representative in the island. Therefore, the Royal symbol is far for being comprehensive of Northern Ireland as a political entity.--Darius (talk) 17:15, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. The single purpose editor wishing to change the long established consensus should convince others of the merits of their edits. O Fenian (talk) 19:12, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
