I added the template to Category:Parliament of the United Kingdom navigational boxes as the Leader of the Opposition is a parliamentary post. However, this also made me wonder if the template should be in Category:United Kingdom ministerial office navigational boxes, which it currently is. Although an office recognised by Parliament and law, and having an official position, it is not really a ministerial office. Indeed, by its very nature the post of Leader of the Opposition in the United Kingdom can never be held by a Minister or anyone sitting on the same benches as the ministry of the day (indeed during World War Two some Labour members had to stay on the opposition benches so there could be a nominal leader of the opposition - and the Party Leader, Clement Attlee could not hold the position while a member of the Coalition Government). Given this I think it probably needs to be taken out of the category, but I would welcome the thoughts of other editors on this matter before taking any action. I have removed it from Category:United Kingdom ministerial office navigational boxes for now. If anyone has any strong feelings that it should be in the category, I am happy to discuss further. Dunarc (talk) 23:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
