Partitions

[edit]

The series templates for most other national histories are chronological, so, I made some changes to this template to make it look more like those. Feel free to change it back, of course.

I think "Bourbon Spain" is somewhat misleading. It technically runs from 1700 to the present, and doesn't fit in the chronology of the history. Neither does Iberian Union, which coincides with the Age of Expansion section.

This the chronology I'm suggesting:

I left First Spanish Republic in because it fits in the timeline, though it's relatively smaller in terms of relevance and chronological coverage compared to the rest of the series. It could be fit into the Mid-nineteenth century Spain article, unwieldy as that title is.

I am starting to like the outcome....nice....but I changed Franco to The Dictatorship to make it more consistent with restoration

Template parameters

[edit]

I added {{{image}}} and {{{caption}}} paramaters to the template to allow images to be placed in the header above the template, as it is in Template:Battlebox. This meant editing all the pages that presently have this template on them; if anyone objects to the addition of the template parameters, I'll revert all the pages myself. It adds a small, somewhat ugly grey bar on pages that don't have images, but on Habsburg Spain and El Cid and some others it moves a somewhat uncomfortably placed image (that used to be where the template is now, to add color to the header) back to where it originally was. The application of the images right now is not ideal, and there are articles that don't even have images, breaking the template. An article series box should not be so dominant. With the pictures being so large, it takes a lot of empty space and is quite distracting. Consider being more prudent with images, choosing a single image that goes with the template, or having none at all.

Width

[edit]

This template looks really bad when images are added because it gets very wide, with the text below then being very long, small and having a large white space to one side. If wide images are to remain being the norm for this template, the text list should be organised into two columns. — Chameleon 11:09, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Roman Spain

[edit]

I believe that the entry "Roman Spain", that leads directly to the aricle Hispania, should be renamed "Roman Hispania". I'm changing it. Does anynone know about the status of the Merge proposal between Prehistoric Spain and Prehistoric Portugal and their mode to Prehistoric Iberia? The Ogre 17:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kingdom of Spain

[edit]

Hello everyone. I thing a link shoulf be added between the Reconquista and the Age of Expansion, I believe it should be called Kingdom of Spain, and link to Catholic Monarchs, thus having an entry that explain the unification of Iberian states from wich Spain emerged. I´m adding it. The Ogre 15:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

I suggest renaming the leading title of this template from History of Spain series to Series on History of Spain or just to History of Spain. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 14:28, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I'm adding a link to the Spanish Empire onto the topics section, since it's undoubtedly one of the important parts of her history. If you wish to discuss it being place elsewhere, contact me on my page. Thanks for reading! LeftAire (talk) 21:23, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

addition to Contemporary history

[edit]

I've made a complete reworking and extension of the 1977 Atocha massacre article; any objections to adding that to the Contemporary History section?--Goldsztajn (talk) 19:22, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
