East Timor in Oceania? According to which criteria?

[edit]

While East Timor is culturally and linguistically part of "Melanesia" it is geographically part of Asia (Southeast Asia). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.255.230.227 (talkcontribs)

We have to ask the East Timorese themselves where they feel part of. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.255.230.227 (talkcontribs)
East Timor is part of Asia, Southeast Asia more specifically, PERIOD! Even while East Timor has cultural and linguistical ties with "Melanesia" it is geographically part of Asia (Southeast Asia) and universally accepted so.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.255.230.227 (talkcontribs)
East Timor was included here because it is listed in Template:Oceania in topic. If that listing is unsupported by verifiable published sources, it should be changed and all dependencies of that template (this page is one of them) edited accordingly. --ScottMainwaring 15:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps more to the point, the Oceania page specifies: "East Timor is sometimes considered a transcontinental country. It is geographically in Oceania (Melanesia), but has historical, social, and political connections with Southeastern Asia." (Unfortunately a source for this statement isn't cited there.) --ScottMainwaring 16:54, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

correction

[edit]

Isnt New Zealand part of australiasa? its not a polyanasin country is it?Lovingnews1989 10:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Australasia is an overly broad term for this page. And including New Zealand (but not the Chatham Islands) under Australia is also confusing. New Zealand should have it's own section with the flags for NZ and Chatham Islands. --Cybogoblin (talk) 00:38, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Historical flag section

[edit]

Unlike these pages like flags of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, they have historical flags of each country and of countries which were never existed anymore, and for this page, it is the only "flags of each continent" page which doesn't have a historical flags section. So what I'm asking right now is please, make this page a "historical flags" section, so every "flags of each continent" pages can have everything in common.

Sincerely...
