Youth Summer Camps

Our Youth Camps are made for you to get out, get dirty and play hard! Enjoy activities such as kayaking, backpacking, paintball and more!

Registration for 2024 Youth Camp programs will open:

  • Banff residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17
  • Non-residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15

Go Youth July 2-5
Grades 7-10
A 4 day adventure with youth camp! Get ready to be active, play outside, and explore new interests and skills. Enjoy a variety of exciting day trips and activities including a summer campfire on your Thursday night campout.
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School

Go Big or Go Home July 8-12 
Going into grades 7-10  
Join Youth Camp for a jam-packed week of exploring the world’s most beautiful places. This week includes an exciting trip to the iconic Moraine Lake, followed by a two-night camp out to adventure in Lake Louise and Marble Canyon.
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School

Leader In Training (L.I.T) July 15 – 26 (M-F)
Grades 9-11
Includes Training component and Volunteer placement component.
Are you ready to lead? Join the Summer Fun and the Bow Valley Family Resource Network (BVFRN) teams for this two-week leadership development program. Week 1: Learn what it takes to program plan, problem solve and work with children on their level. Find your own leadership style in our week of training. Week 2: Practice your skills as a volunteer leader with the Summer Fun day camp program. All L.I.T. participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program. 
Note: participants must attend both weeks of the program to receive their certificate; registration limited to youth who have not previously participated in the LIT program.
Location: The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre and Banff Elementary School, schedule TBD
This program is Free for all Bow Valley Residents

Go Backcountry July 29- August 2
Grades 7-10
Going into grades 7-10
The mountains are calling and we must go! During this three-night trip, youth will learn the skills and gear needed to explore on foot and camp overnight. This is the perfect trip to learn new ways to enjoy and engage with the Park we call home. A beginners guide to Backpacking, this is definitely a week you won’t want to miss.
Notes: Monday will be spent on location at Banff Elementary School to go over some backpacking essentials and ensure our bags are packed well. Backcountry travel means that participants will be out in tents within the peace of the mountains for the duration of their 3-night trip. Youth Camp will be accompanied by an ACMG Certified Guide for this trip.

Go Paddle August 19-23 
Grades 8-10
Throw on your splash top and prepare for a week on the water! With the support of professional coaches from the Bow Valley Kayak Club, participants will learn about kayaking equipment; access, navigation and maneuvering of waterways, safe kayak exits, and paddling in both Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.
Pre-requisite: Although strong swimming is not necessary, participants must feel confident in deep water. In still water, we will practice how to be upside-down in a kayak, as it is an essential skill in preparing for river paddling. For insurance purposes all registrants must obtain a membership with the Bow Valley Kayak Club. Camp fees have been reduced to accommodate the membership fee.

Before your registration day: 
We want to make registration faster for you and your family. To speed up the registration process, please send in your completed forms any time. This way they will be reviewed, corrected, and on file long beforehand. 

You may hand these in via email to community.services@banff.ca or in person at Town Hall. If you prefer to fill a paper copy, they are available at Town Hall during opening hours. 

Registration Information:

  • Your pre-completed forms will not give you priority in line on your registration day. 
  • Registration requests will be accepted on a first come, first served basis starting at 8:30am. Emails received before 8:30am will not be considered.
  • Registration requests will be accepted by email only - not in person or via phone
  • Registration requests are not a confirmed registration. Registrations will be confirmed by Client Services once processed and your receipt is received.

On your registration day:

When registration is open to you, please send a registration request to community.services@banff.ca. Emails received before 8:30am will not be considered.

Please include in your request:

  • Your name & child(ren)’s name(s)
  • One or two phone numbers we can reach you during the daytime on weekdays
  • Your completed forms (if you haven’t already sent them in)
  • Your list of requested dates 

Client services will respond to your request on a first-come-first-served basis. They will leave a message if they are unable to connect with you, but will proceed with responding to other registration requests.

Please note: We are unable complete registration until all forms are filled correctly. 

Children’s legal guardians are asked to complete registration forms each season to ensure all participant information on file is up-to-date.
