  • Invictus Energy Limited has announced a fresh placement and fundraising through a listing on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange, further supporting its exploration programme onshore Zimbabwe. Participation from the Republic of Zimbabwe’s Mutapa Investment Fund re-affirms the Government’s commitment to the project, as well as a partner to finalise and implement the anticipated PPSA legal and fiscal framework to govern the project moving forward. The placement was coordinated by Mangwana Capital with Alpine Capital acting as Corporate and Financial Adviser. It notably secured the participation from the state-owned Mutapa Investment Fund, Zimbabwe's Sovereign Wealth Fund. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eAEGcaWU

  • As we prepare to meet up in Cape Town next October, the findings of the International Energy Agency (IEA)'s World Energy Investment Report 2024 are calling us to action! #Investment in Africa's energy sector is set to rise, but the continent still faces significant hurdles in achieving its climate goals, according to the IEA's latest report. Unlocking the continent’s energy potential will require sustained and coordinated action from both public and private stakeholders. Key #findings: • $110 billion to be invested in Africa's energy sector in 2024, with $40 billion allocated to #cleanenergy • 600 million Africans lack access to electricity, while 1 billion lack access to #cleancooking fuels • High cost of capital and financing challenges hinder clean energy growth • Annual investments need to exceed $200 billion to meet Africa's energy and #climategoals by 2030 Public #funding dominates the sector, with more than half of investment coming from government sources. However, only a third of utilities can recover operational and debt costs, even with subsidies. South Africa is an exception, with plans to establish an independent transmission project office to procure new transmission capacity using a build-operate-transfer model. To bridge the funding gap and drive growth, Africa's #energy sector must provide: • Innovative financing solutions • Increased private sector participation • Upgraded grid infrastructure to support new renewable energy projects • Mobilization of concessional finance to support energy access initiatives Without addressing these challenges, Africa risks missing its energy and climate targets. Let’s drive Africa’s clean energy transition and unlock the continent's vast energy potential! Attend #AOW2024 from 7-10 October: https://lnkd.in/dyEbMcyT
