“I have had the pleasure of working with Dalene for the past 5 years on the VAF Phoenix programme, the intent of which was to modernise VAF's core line of business system and it's partner systems ecosystem. Dalene, the Enterprise Architect within VAF; was responsible for a host of governance and oversight activities, supporting the Solution Architects in their overall delivery of the programme solution design. These were as follows: - Managing and facilitation of regulatory compliance to SARB Cloud regulations, the in-depth assessment of the regulations and SBSA's mitigating actions; - Managing and facilitation of regulatory compliance with regards to bank data and compliance to POPIA; - Managing and facilitation of internal bank Architecture governance covering cyber-security, bank 'leading practice' for the implementation of core line of business systems; - Managing and facilitation of internal bank Architecture Governance forums for the presentation and ratification of complex solution designs and patterns for approval by the Architecture governance board; - Managing and facilitation of all Architecture governance sub-forums in which the Solution Architects had to present complex solutions and architecture patterns (that deviate from bank patterns) for VAF internal approval; - Assistance in the resolution of critical production issues (crit-sits), relative to our solution designs with the view to facilitating a co-ordinated team response to the issue and the resolution thereof within the team; - Assistance with any 'blockers' in getting multi-disciplinary teams to co-ordinate solutions for complex solution designs as well as critical production issues; The above are just some of the responsibilities that Dalene executed with dilligence and tenacity. She has a wealth of experience within the bank, having been in various functional areas of the bank before VAF; she understands the over-arching systems architectures very well, with many years of experience as insight. This experience was especially valuable, when seeking assistance/co-ordination from other teams within the bank, e.g. credit function within VAF. This greatly assisted her team of Solution Architects, of which I was only 1; to deliver our solution designs; on time and within budget. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Dalene Minnaar and I would absolutely love to work with Dalene and her team again, due to her professionalism, drive and passion for excellence and I would wholeheartedly recommend Dalene Minnaar as an excellent, well experience EA.”

VAF modernisation
An RFP for a replacement of our Retail VAF system was done, selecting through a process from 17 vendors a suitable solution. My role was to lead the architecture evaluation and the architecture strategy, to define the roadmap for replacement. A program was kicked off to develop integration and configuration of said system for which i had to lead and oversee all the architecture decisions and governance processes with a team of solution architects.

The Bank has commissioned a program to develop a platform for the external api market place. One of the identified API’s to be placed on the market place for fleet merchants to consume was developed by the Fleet API team. I was responsible for leading the architecture, evangelization and drive to get the API prioritised and the drive to complete the work involved to go live.

A vendor solution was selected to do content and workflow in order to digitise all Fleet onboarding processes. I was responsible for vendor evaluation, business case creation and getting approval from the Group Architecture Governance Committee. The vendor was approved and multiple successful process optimization initiatives has been developed in a record time at a low cost.
