About us
Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning network that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, protect and conserve the environment and promote peace. It comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with a presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International. Since the late 1990s, Greenpeace had been actively campaigning on illegal logging in the Congo Basin Forest in Central Africa. Officially, Greenpeace Africa was established with its office opening in Johannesburg in November 2008. We currently have offices in: Cameroon (Yaounde) DRC (Kinshasa) Kenya (Nairobi) Senegal (Dakar) South Africa (Johannesburg) Our vision is an Africa where people live in harmony with nature in a peaceful state of environmental and social justice. Greenpeace has always been more than an organisation. We have been, and are today, a movement. A diverse, multinational, multicultural movement of ordinary individuals determined to bring about extraordinary changes necessary to realise a greener, more peaceful future. Greenpeace is an equal opportunity employer with a longstanding commitment of providing a work environment that respects the dignity and worth of each individual. We recognise and value the benefits and strengths that diversity brings to our employees and the whole organisation and we thrive in an environment that encourages respect and trust. We do not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of age, ancestry, citizenship, colour, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic and would like to invite you especially to apply.

Most of us agree it’s unfair for the least responsible to pay the biggest price, yet the biggest polluters pay NOTHING for extreme weather events destroying lives. Let's help stop this from happening 👉 https://bit.ly/3zEblQT #StopDrillingStartPaying

Sharks actually have 7 senses. 🤔 Sight, smell, taste, hearing, water pressure sensors, touch/feel, and electro-perception. Electro-perception means that sharks🦈 can sense electrical fields. So no matter how well potential prey camouflage themselves, the shark will sense the electrical field coming from its movement. How incredible is that? 🤯 #ProtectTheOceans #SharkAwarenessDay

⏰ Hawaii has taken a significant step by banning seabed mining ahead of the International Seabed Authority meeting starting on Monday. Let’s push for more countries to take similar actions and protect our deep oceans 👉 https://act.gp/4cC8dne

⚠️ People need the money that billionaires are hiding in tax havens. This year, we can change this! The African group has proposed changing the global tax rules, and the majority of countries are in favor. It's unfair that only rich OECD countries get to decide. The #UNTaxConvention is a historical opportunity to reclaim the billions lost to tax havens and transfer decision-making power from OECD to UN member states on an equal footing. In our new petition, we’re demanding wellbeing for all. Join us today! https://act.gp/3zN1po1

TWENTY SEVEN! That’s how many countries have already spoken up! The International Seabed Authority’s July session is the moment for more governments to speak out. We must push for decisive action and a moratorium on deep-sea mining before it starts! https://act.gp/3Wh4tll --------------------------- VINGT-SEPT!

THEY ARE DISTRACTING US. False solutions like recycling, clean-ups, bioplastics, and plastic-eating bacteria distract from the urgent need to reduce plastic production. Let’s not fall for their tactics. We need systemic change. Call for an end to unnecessary single-use plastics 👉 https://act.gp/4cAX0Ds
