Afrimat Mining Services embarked on a new Drilling & Blasting project in Steelpoort for the De Groote Boom Mine. The Mine is a MG4 opencast chrome mine developing into a mountain outcrop. The mine’s volume requirements per month are: 1. Waste blocks – 160 000 BCM 2. Chrome ore – 35 000 BCM Afrimat took the approach to use electronic detonators and use a more appropriate timing according to the rock formation on site to improve the fragmentation and blast results. Drilling commenced on the 4th of April 2024 on the Development Overburden. The first chrome blast was done on the 11th of April 2024, and the first development blast was done on the 19th of April 2024. Total overburden blast done on the development block is 5. Planned blast volumes per month is in the region of about 140000m3.Planned blast volumes per month is in the region of about 140000m3. We wish our newly established team in Steelpoort well with all their challenges and putting the Afrimat name and values on top. Andre Van Rensburg #Mining #DrillingAndBlasting #MiningServices

Afrimat's Cape Lime Langvlei team recently embarked on a sales & marketing roadshow to several parts of the country. We started in the Karoo, promoting our products and introducing some new products in our range such as the Ikalika paint that is ideal for the old white-washed buildings in these areas. A big thank you to Spectrum Distributors in George and Gqeberha for their distribution of our product to customers. We are excited about what the future holds and the great opportunities that were identified for future expansion. Congratulations to Riaan Engelbrecht and Elgar Watts for their commitment to serving The Afrimat Way! #BuildingMaterials #IndustrialMinerals

Great news for the Marble Hall Pit Development! At Afrimat, our goal was to maximise limestone exposure within a short space of time. By strategically drilling and blasting the top dolomite layers on the pit's west side that uncovered approximately 660,000 tons of high-quality limestone beneath. This was no easy task as it involved the removal of dolomite while continuing with normal production. Our Afrimat Mining Services team played a crucial role by crushing and screening the extracted dolomite into sellable aggregates. They also provided all the essential blasting services. Over four months, nearly 116,000 tons of dolomite were crushed and screened, with 80,000 tons originating from the pre-split blasts. This produced aggregates that not only sustained our operations but also allowed us to shut down the Aggregate (Blue) Plant for critical maintenance and component upgrades. In May 2024 the new haul road became operational which enabled us to start the first blasts on the block of limestone on the old haul road. The 10th of June 2024 the first blast on the new limestone block was set off. Every single drill hole was sampled during the drilling process providing us with a clear understanding of the chemical composition of the blast block and discovered that the chemistry on this block was of an excellent quality. This project has added nearly a year's worth of limestone to the Marble Hall mine's lifespan! We're excited to explore further pit expansions throughout the year. #Mining #IndustrialMinerals #Limestone #Expanding
