Guardian ad Litem: Multiple Positions Available

Location(s): Stanley, Devils Lake, Williston, Wahpeton, Valley City, Fargo, & Bismarck

Job Summary: A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is assigned by the court to advocate for the best interest of children who typically have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Attend court hearings
  • Review records pertaining to the child
  • Interview children, parents, teachers and other appropriate parties
  • Create a written report, including recommendations to the court

The ideal candidate for this position would have experience with the child welfare and juvenile court systems, have good verbal and written skills, and be very organized. Many of the duties for this position can be accomplished from home. The selected candidate must have a home computer with internet access, a home printer and a cell phone.

Qualifications and Skills

A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a human service, education or related field; or an associate degree in an academic field related to child care, child development, or children’s services and at least three years of experience in the delivery or supervision of child care or children’s services, child development services, or in the education of children.

A thorough criminal background check is required to obtain this position.

Pay: $20.29 – $27.65 per hour

Short Term Care and Assessment Center Staff: Multiple Positions Available

Location(s): Fargo, Minot, Bismarck

Job Summary: Do you have a heart for working with at-risk teens? Youthworks is seeking applicants to provide basic care and supervision for youth at its Short Term Care and Assessment Centers. These positions entail direct supervision of youth, performing initial intakes, being a positive role model, and participating in structured activities. The program is staffed 24-7 on a scheduled basis, with day, evening, and overnight shifts available. Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, be able to pass a background check, and attend mandatory training.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
  • Be reliable and independent.
  • Work some weekends and holidays

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour

Youth & Family Engagement Center Coordinator - Full Time | Bismarck, ND

Location(s): Bismarck

Job Summary:

The Youth & Family Engagement Center Coordinator acts as the leader in engaging youth in the Youth & Family Engagement Center as well as supporting the mentors working in the program.  The Coordinator takes their guidance from the Program Manager, helping to ensure the program is operating true to the spirit of Youthworks’ mission and philosophy.  The role of the Coordinator includes building relationships, community outreach, facilitation of groups, as well as developing and following the Youth & Family Engagement Center structure and schedule.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Service, or related field
  • 2 years of related experience with community development
  • CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
  • Be reliable and independent.

Girls in Justice Youth Engagement Specialist - Full Time | Bismarck, ND

Job Summary:

The Girls inJustice Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) will build relationships with female-identified youth who have vulnerabilities to human trafficking.  The YES acts as the leader in engaging youth in the Girls inJustice program as well as supporting Girls inJustice Mentors.  The Girls inJustice Youth Engagement Specialist takes their guidance from the Program Manager, helping sure the program is operating true to the spirit of Youthworks’ mission and philosophy.

The Girls inJustice Program will build on existing Youthworks programming to prevent and reduce the victimization of girls who are vulnerable to trafficking.  Girls inJustice aims to go beyond the reactive measures and consequential programming that is too often utilized with youth in North Dakota.  Rather, Girls inJustice focuses on identity work, reclamation of the female and youth narratives, and youth empowerment practices while engaging youth in their communities and with their families.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
  • Be reliable and independent.
  • Priority consideration will be given to candidates with lived experience in the child welfare or juvenile justice system. Candidates BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and other candidates that have experienced social justice issues are encouraged to apply.
