Sacramento deputies investigate report of attempted armed robbery at Del Campo High School
Sacramento County sheriff’s officials were searching for suspects involved in an attempted armed robbery during summer school classes, which prompted a precautionary lockdown Tuesday afternoon at two campuses in Fair Oaks.
Authorities on Tuesday received a report of a possible attempted robbery at gunpoint at Del Campo High School at 4924 Dewey Drive, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. He said no injuries have been reported.
Authorities had detained two suspects, Gandhi said about 2 p.m. Tuesday, and investigators believe there might two other suspects involved in the attempted robbery who remained at large.
School officials told students and staff at both Del Campo High and Will Rogers Middle School, which are across the street from each other, to shelter in place, according to a message posted at 1:20 p.m. on the schools’ web sites. The message instructed parents and others not to go to the campuses as law enforcement responded “to an incident.”
At 2:15 p.m., Gandhi announced that both campus lockdowns had been lifted. He also authorities had searched both schools and had been cleared.
“School activities are continuing as normal,” school officials announced in a 2:20 p.m. message posted online. “Families may see law enforcement presence on campus as they continue to investigate the incident.”
There were no further details immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
