The Tom Lantos Archives on Anti-Semitism and Holocaust Denial
In April 2009, MEMRI dedicated its Anti-Semitism Documentation Project to the late Congressman Tom Lantos, in an inauguration ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol. Anti-Semitism in the Arab world, South Asia, and Iran has evolved rapidly in recent years. The Tom Lantos Archives documents anti-Semitic themes in newspaper reports, editorials, and other media from the Middle East and South Asia. These themes include calls in mosque sermons and in the media for killing Jews, based on various Islamic origins; old European libels and stereotypes; and Nazi propaganda. This project, which includes thousands of pages of translations and hundreds of hours of footage from the MEMRI TV Project, maintains the largest archive in the world of translated material on anti-Semitism in this region from the past decade. This project has provided material in numerous court cases, resulting in many Arab and Iranian TV channels being taken off the air in the West.
MEMRI TV Monitor Project
MEMRI TV Monitor ProjectThe MEMRI TV Project maintains the world's largest archives of footage translated from Arab and Iranian television. This project has so far produced nearly 6,000 translated clips, totaling more than 22,000 minutes of footage - the largest such archives in the world. The MEMRI TV Project is viewed in 195 countries around the world, and to date over 20 million visitors have accessed its website. MEMRI TV monitors over 100 channels from the Arab world and Iran, with staffers working in shifts around the clock. No one else - not even the U.S. military - does such work. MEMRI TVclips have beenaired by major U.S. TV networks: NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, FOX, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, CNN, as well as major international TV networks.
