Retail sales decreased 0.8% to $66.1 billion in May. Sales were down in eight of nine subsectors, led by decreases at food and beverage retailers.

Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, June 2024

The Industrial Product Price Index was unchanged in June and increased 2.8% year over year. The Raw Materials Price Index declined 1.4% month over month in June and was up 7.5% year over year.

Monthly credit aggregates, May 2024

In May, the total credit liabilities of households rose $5.1 billion (+0.2%) to reach $2,955.9 billion. Real estate secured debt, composed of both mortgage debt and home equity lines of credit, grew by $5.7 billion (+0.2%). Household mortgage debt increased $6.4 billion (+0.3%) in May, an acceleration compared with April (+0.2%).
