1.) Watch the bats leave their roost under the Congress Avenue bridge at dusk. Might not be the 1.5M that come later in the year, but there still should be at least 1/2 a million of them fluttering out.
2.) Chicken [bleep] bingo at Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon on Sundays. VERY fun and very Austin.
3.) Dance lessons at the Broken Spoke, from 8pm to 9pm, Tues - Saturday.
4.) Jog around Lady Bird Lake in the morning.
5.) Watch the sunset over Lake Travis from The Oasis or one of the adjacent restraunts/bars
6.) Get an 85 cent breakfast taco (or 3) at Tamale House in the morning, along with a healthy serving of good natured abuse from the gals making them.
7.) Have a drink at the Driskall Hotel bar either before or after having a look through the capitol.
8.) Skip the 3-4 hour wait for Franklin's BBQ and road trip 30 minutes south of town to Lockhart for equal or better BBQ at Smitty's BBQ or across town to John Mueller's sister's food truck (free shiners with your 'cue).
9.) Continental Club whatever night Alejandro Escovedo is playing.
10.) Saxon Pub on Monday if Bob Schneider is playing.

Oh, almost forgot, Eeyore's Birthday is April 27th and probably the most "Austin" event in Austin these days.

-East Sixth to party it up.  Really unique dive bars over there.
-Madam Mam's is my fav fav favorite Thai restaurant in the everything Iknoweverse.
-Veggie Heaven is a delicious bang for the buck pace off the drag if you are vegan.
-Take a walk up and down South Congress.  They got food trucks in the area that are soon to be kicked out, so take advantage. -Barton Springs is really cool.  The temperature is at a nice temperature all year long so you might consider taking a dip.
-Juan in a Million and their breakfast burritos are a mondo awesome deal and delicious.
-If you got the gumption and a really strong alcohol tolerance, try taking the Trudy's challenge.  Every Trudy's will serve you two of their margaritas and cut you off.  But there are 3 Trudy's in Austin...which equates to 6 margaritas and a nasty hangover.  Got heuvos?

Holy shit there is so much to do in Austin.  Just move their for a couple of years.

  1. The food trucks down there are soo good, Gordoughs especially. Titaya is a must every time I'm in Austin. Zilker Park Boat Rental for kayaking if you like being outdoors. The Oasis at Lake Travis has a great view, not really good food but if you go there, there's a guy name Robert Stolt who has a caricature booth. I've been there a few times and he has drawn everyone spot on.

  2. Casino El Camino for awesome burgers and bloody marys.
Hula Hut for the patio on Lake Austin
Threadgills for some good southern cooking

    Halcyon is a great coffee/food/cocktail hangout. halcyonaustin.com

There is a row of old homes converted to bars on Rainey Street. More chill than 6th and great to bar hop.  My favorite is Icenhauers. icenhauers.com

And if you do go to The Continental, here is a tip. All of the bands hang out smoking cigs in the alley by the back door.

  3. Scott, which place?  I went to all three when I was there last month.  : )

  4. Prince is spot-ON with Rainey Street for craft drinks (Icenhauer's) or beers (Craft Pride). Lucille also has a great, open backyard to chill out...for a bar.
If you don't want to waste 1/2 day waiting at Franklin's (IMHO) or driving to Lockhart, you cannot go wrong by enjoying J. Mueller's baddass BBQ at either John Mueller Meat Company (new location on E. 6th) or his older trailer location on S. First Street (LA BBQ) = both are comparable!
    Prince....um, yeah......cigs.....hehheh
