Pretty amazing chicken burger.
Be careful with the level of spicy it can go through the ceiling.
There is only one employee taking care of your payment as well as your food preparation so some patience is required.
The place itself shares the entrance with a grocery store, a little easy to overlook.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John K.Staten Island, NY1818043Jun 6, 2024
Wanted to love it.
Tried it twice the chicken ceasar wrap.
Was not impressed at all.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 4, 2024
I've tried both chicken and mushroom sundo and they are really good. You can taste the dry rub sauce of the chicken. They are not cheap as it is $14 each.
Avoid the Mac and cheese. It's a little gritty and kinda diluted. Think I can make better than thatHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 293062096Apr 14, 2024
Generous portion of crispy, juicy and spicy chicken breast, pickle, crispy coleslaw, and the creamy SOS sauce sandwiched between brioche buns. It's an excellent and satisfying chicken sandwich. I got the medium spice, which has a nice kick for me. I would probably try the medium plus next time. Price is a bit steep for the sandwich at $14, when compared to Popeyes' chicken sandwich (which IMO is excellent) but $14 normal price for downtown JC area for non-chain fast food.
Mac and cheese - the macaroni has a nice bite but the sauce was slightly watery and sandy. $6.
If you get the combo deal of sandwich and any side for $16.99, it will save you $2-3 compared to purchasing each item individually.
I appreciate they have a walk-up outdoor ordering window, which is great for customers bringing their dogs. There are also a few outdoor seating area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 13, 2024
TLDR, food was okay but service and sanitation could be better. So this spot is located in a convenience store (which is also undergoing construction, with sheets of drywall and wood a few feet away. When I went, no one was in line. The server couldn't quite understand my questions about the menu and then it took almost 20 minutes to get my tenders and fries! They cooked the tenders first (and took them out halfway to run a metal thermometer through both - weird for a takeout spot that knows chicken). They then cooked the fries afterwards in a separate fryer - why they didn't cook both at the same time is beyond me. The fries were good but nothing to write home about. The tenders were, well, tender and crunchy. The seasoning was a bit odd - some had the spicy flavor the rest tasted like baby powder/flour. Overall, will skip next time.

The spice levels here are no joke. Ordered tenders here "hot" which is the 3rd spiciest and my boyfriend and I were in tears (and I consider myself being able to handle spice pretty well). Took a break to eat the "medium" wings which were much more tolerable. Basically if you want to enjoy your meal without any pain, go medium. But definitely don't skimp on the sauces because they're delicious.
I thought the fries could be crispier but I prefer mine crunchy and less potato like. The "jumbo" wings aren't that jumbo - they're pretty normal sized. Overall, a bit pricey for the amount of food you get but worth visiting if you like Nashville style "hot" dry rubs!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 2 - May 19, 2023
Since opening in late 2018, the counter at the front of Oliva market has gone through a few vendors (in-house salads + Mexican fare, hot dogs, Falafel Station, and now House of Hot Chicken) and, incredibly, all have been solid.
House of Hot Chicken moved in a few weeks back, and I decided to check it out on a Friday evening. The menu is right to the point: hot chicken sandwiches (fried tenders soaked in hot sauce + slaw + creamy sauce + pickles), mushroom sandwiches (same as the chicken, with fried portobello replacing the bird), sides (crinkle cut fries+ slaw + mac and cheese), and a dessert called a cheesecake cone.
I ordered a chicken sandwich in Extra Hot sauce and a side of fries. The extra hot isn't the hottest on the menu (that's the Roof Is On Fire), but it's the hottest they have on hand.
The sandwich is filling, with 3 hefty tenders on a brioche bun. It's tasty, though the texture is rubbery. And the sauce: hoo boy. Extra Hot is underselling it: next to the phaal at neighboring Brick Lane, this might be the spiciest dish downtown. Still, it's an enjoyable meal.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Apr 20, 2023
Went to this place a few times at its first location in 2021 and fell in love, needless to say I was heartbroken when they were gone. As soon as I saw they were back, and at a new and improved location near grove st, I was elated! Of course we had to stop by for the grand opening last week and it was just as delicious (and spicy) as I remember. Even their mild level is not for the weak!! This is one of the only hot chicken spots I've been to that truly serves HOT chicken. They have a no spice level though which is perfect for anyone with zero spice tolerance.
Follow them on ig for giveaways and links to their site. We ordered online and picked up at their counter located inside Olivia's, they have a pick up window outside too. No seating though so it's perfect for a quick takeout or delivery situation. Everything was ready quickly and tasted so good. I got a chicken breast the size of a dinosaur leg on my sando so it makes the price seem a bit more fair (it's $14 for a sando). Mac & cheese, pickles, and the fries were great as well. Loved the dj and wheel of goodies to spin on opening day. Pure happiness!!!!Helpful 11Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 29, 2023
Ordered an extra hot sandwich. It was the second to spiciest option but the roofs on fire wasn't available yet. Kinda happy about that because extra hot was hotter than expected. It's that level of spice where there's more heat than flavor. May return again to try the hot level to see if the taste is better. Fries were really good. Wish the sandwich came with sauce on the side. Seems like everything is a la cart and we had to get a drink from the market.
Staff was nice. Took a while to prepare our order. Yelp has the wrong phone number so get it from the website instead. Also parking is not the easiest here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 26, 2023
This place is no joke! I was walking in Grove street and saw the Chicken House so I figured I'd give it a try ( haven't had a good spicy chick in some time ). It's located in a good store so a little hidden off the beat and path . I ordered on the website and 15 minutes later I was in heaven . I ordered their classic spicy chicken ( Hot ) with the Mac n cheese which also has chicken in it . Absolutely amazing - best I've had in many years . Everything was fresh , with crispy chicken and flavorful seasoning . Can't wait to come back !!!
