You must go to this adorable Thai restaurant if you're in the Nolita area. I've been coming here for dinner for more than a decade, they have never let me down.
The chicken is consistently juicy and bursting with flavor in the ginger fried chicken. I adore ordering shrimp summer rolls and sautéed Chinese broccoli on the side. A 10/10 dish for a more substantial lunch would be grilled fish over spicy green curry! The pad thai or fried rice, with your choice of protein, is a traditional dish that I highly suggest! You can't go wrong because of their amazing cuisine. If you're in the mood for something sweet, they also have a killer dessert menu. My personal favorites are the baked chocolate cake and Mochi ice cream, but they also have other alternatives like cookies and gelato. They have a great selection of wines, beers, and cocktails on their drink menu! Sparkling wine is my personal favorite since it always tastes crisp and clean. Now, if you're feeling a little more daring, I suggest trying the Jalapeno Mezcal Margarita; it's delicious and a little spicy.
This is a lovely and intimate restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, and a lower area for larger groups or private gatherings. Time flies at this kind of place because you're indulging in delicious food and taking in the atmosphere. The meal is served quickly, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is courteous. Overall, the service is excellent. I would advise carrying cash, but you can also use an American Express card to make your payment.
The restaurant is situated in the center of the tourist-friendly and reasonably bustling neighborhood of Nolita. Public transit is the most convenient method to get here; the restaurant is close to multiple subway lines. There isn't much parking in this area, so be cautious if you intend to drive.Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 1Nov 15, 2014Previous reviewThis place never disappoints me! Been going here for years, great food for an affordable price! It's a small cozy place where you can just talk the night away. The ginger fried chicken is the best! It's a good place to go have lunch or dinner and the service is pretty good.

Ok, I didn't check out the reviews before eating here but what I got was really good and the place was really chill! I kept it extremely basic and ordered from the breakfast menu and got the egg breakfast sandwich, which I would recommend! The service was great and the waitress seemed to know the right time to come and check on me. I would recommend this sandwich and salad! lol

Lovely Day is a New York staple. I started going there in 2003. And after a hiatus of a few years plus the pandemic, I was happy to learn that LD is still here! The food is really good and fair priced. It's an interesting fusion of Japanese and Thai with delicious Latin and English inspired desserts. The ambiance is comfortable and you might catch someone that you saw somewhere ;) the staff is pretty friendly! The basement has pretty good amplifiers where the owner runs a cozy but powerful listening room. All vinyl!

I love this place and keep coming back! I'm pescatarian and there are plenty of great options for me here. I particularly love the salmon green curry and the shrimp appetizer. The prices are super affordable, the waitstaff are always lovely and this feels like a truly local spot. There's also a cute bar in the basement with various DJ nights and a cool crowd.

The Food, The Drinks, The Service, The warmness, and Ambiance. Suppose I could give Lovely Day a 10-star rating, I would. I have a few favorite dishes, but I can't decide which is the best because every thing I've had is tasty and flavorful--one of my favorite restaurants to visit.

Food is crappy, but what makes this place absolutely something to avoid as the service. This chick was so fucking rude - I'm looking at real estate and walked into Nolita. And thought, "oh my gosh, this neighborhood is so cute" but from my first interaction with her until I paid my bill was, hands-down, the worst, rudest experience i have had in New York City and I've been here for 11 years. Wow, if you want to interact with some nasty chick who seems super mad at the world, by all means come here. Otherwise, choose anywhere else to spend your time and money

I love the atmosphere and food of this restaurant. I just keep coming back and recommending it to all my friends who visit NY.
After a great meal upstairs, the ambiance and music in the basement really makes your night.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 11, 2024
I came here a few times, and the food can be a hit-or-miss sometimes. I like their salmon, mashed potatoes and a side radish salad. The last time I came here the fish tasted like it was fished from the garbage and the salad was gloopy and wilted. I've came here before and never had an issue with the food so I'm guessing it was an off day. The service consists of young hipster employees who weren't rude, but also weren't friendly.

Came here for dinner and this was a great find
Pros:
+ Large portions of food
+ Amazing noodles - ?????? is just spicy enough and has a taste of Drunken Noodles
+ Spring rolls were simply divine
+ Great drinks - I ordered a refreshing cucumber martini that was perfect for the summer
Cons:
- Small interior
- Only take American Express or Cash. Sorry, but this is kinda ridiculous.

The service and ambience were ok, but the food was abysmal. This is not considered Thai food whatsoever. I was a little concerned coming in to here given all the reviews and got a little more alarmed when the menu offered Irish, Thai and Japanese all in one. But my friends and I decided to give the restaurant a shot anyways.
- Tofu appetizer was not unique in flavor and something you'd expect from an amateur chef cooking tofu at home for the first time
- Papaya Salad, the only thing that was decent
- Fried Chicken, for a fried chicken lover like myself, this was extremely basic Fried Chicken, weak on flavor
- Fried Shrimp, don't bother, it tastes like it was brought frozen from a grocery store and deep fried
- Pineapple Fried Rice - probably the worst dish. It was extremely bland. Even the pineapples weren't sweet. It just tasted like I had lost my taste buds from covid-19 and I couldn't taste anything from a fried rice like you would expect.
I wouldn't return.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
