Grand Banks is a celebrated oyster bar aboard the historic wooden schooner, Sherman Zwicker. Inspired by the floating "oyster barges" that lined Manhattan's waterfront in the 18th and 19th centuries, Grand Banks features sustainably harvested oysters, nautically inspired cocktails, and awe-inspiring views.

      The boat does not move.

      Is there a Bathroom?

      A:

There sure is. It's downstairs on the boat. Watch your step.

      Blue sky sunshine smiles
      Jumbo jumping shrimp on my
      Ceasar salad lunch

Here's a happy haiku because this place deserves more than a 5 star review. The food is fresh and delicious! The staff was super energetic and kind. The music was bump'n the weather was beyond perfect. The boat was a'rock'n (but our sensitive tummy insides weren't knocking...)

My friend and I split a salad and had a light lunch which was the perfect amount of food to share for a healthy snack. The food came out quick and multiple staff members checked on our dining experience. This was such a unique NYC meal, especially because we accidentally stumbled upon it!

A nice experience on a boat in lower Manhattan with average food & drinks. We experienced some fairly below par service at the front bar (not a lot of attention paid to getting drinks or food to customers at the 3/4 full bar).

You're coming here because you want the experience of eating on a docked boat, while looking at the sights of Lower Manhattan, and you know that the food and drinks are priced to pay for that experience. Nothing is going to be amazing in your experience, but you won't be let down either. The lobster rolls and lobster salad appear to be served from the same bowl of pre-dressed lobster meat. The bun on the lobster roll comes out cold, and the lobster is encased in cucumber slices, both of which reduce the experience of what a lobster roll should be, but the essence is there.

There is a decent selection of wines by the glass, served from a bar tap. The drinks are well made, and the views are good. Plenty of space to enjoy the evening, although the seating is a bit uncomfortable.

Used to love this place back in 2015 but it must have changed management or something because it is so so different. We had a 6:15pm reservation and even though we were on time we waited FOREVER. After 20 minutes the hostess told me the table was being reset and it should be 2 minutes. After 15 more minutes I walked up to the host stand and they had completely forgotten to tell us the table had been ready that entire time!!! And no one even apologized when I pointed this out! I shouldn't have even had to point it out. So rude.

Also while we waited for the table I tried to walk onto the boat and the hostess had the nerve and audacity to treat me like some sort of criminal and said "miss I can't let you on the boat until your table is ready" maybe there's a capacity rule in New York State for boats, who knows but either way she should have been nicer about it. When I told her I had to use the bathroom she let me on. She acted like I was some loser in line at a club and she was the bouncer. Also since when am I not allowed to use the bathroom and grab a drink at the bar while I wait for my table?!

The service was bad, could never get the server there when we needed him and everyone was kind of pompous and rude.

Icing on the cake was some twenty something manager (Asian dude with tattoos to help identify him since I don't know his name) coming up to our table. He noticed my vape pen (not for nicotine) sitting on the table and said "you can't vape here." I didn't touch it the entire time I was there so I hated the rude assumption, like it's not illegal to have on the table so stop being rude for no reason. I'd never use it in a restaurant.

Anyway I'm so so over this place. It's sad because the food was actually decent, but the servers/manager/hostess were all so rude I'll never go back! Oh and it was insanely overpriced for what it is- they're charging for the boat wow factor. Plenty of other boat restaurants in manhattan.

The novelty of Grand Banks is inviting. Dining on a boat along the Hudson sounds cool right? They offer blankets.

Our server was Jessie. She was pleasant and friendly. The food, not so much. Did you know they charge for water per person? Let's start from the beginning. Bach party for 7: two dozen oysters Grand Banks $95 delicious. Then it went downhill. They don't have bread, warm drinks, or fresh cracked pepper. They have ambient music, cold polpetti meatballs and unclean glassware. Granted my ceasar salad with shrimp $36 was good, ton of parmy cheese and a speck of heart of palm. The lobster rolls were a good serving. The only compliment I heard was the side salad was good.

We weren't offered dessert or anything special to celebrate a special occasion. Further, we took a couple group photos. Granted, us tourist could have been annoying but the staff did not hide their displeasure or eye rolls when we asked if they could take our group photo.

I won't be back here. I won't ever eat here again and I wouldn't recommend it. But thank you for your service Jessie.

Lunch for 7 = $514 plus 15% tip because this whole experience could have been better.

It was 80 degrees in NYC and my coworker and I ventured down to the pier to have some drinks on our lunch. Let me tell you something, this boat ROCKS. If you have seasickness, I would re-think coming. Outside of that, you can't beat the views from the boat.

We sat at the bar, but they have tables along the sides as well. I ordered the Permanent Vacation, which consisted of "Gunpowder Proof" Jamaican Rum, Demerara Rum, blue Curacao, coconut, pineapple and cherry. While visually appealing, it wasn't the strongest drink, which you would expect from having 2 different rums. It was enjoyable though, and I liked the size of the glass it came in.

I love it here! The boat experience was amazing. It was beautiful, and the day was perfect, sunny with breeze. We sat outside in a little table, the shrimp cocktail was very delicious and the side of olives perfect pairing with an aperol spritz. Our server was very polite and enthusiastic. I would definitely come back! The only thing is I thought the aperol was gonna be served in a glass cup instead of a small cup like the one in the picture. But it was fine anyways haha. Love grand banks!

Great date spot! Just keep an eye on the weather and avoid going on a super windy day, since the boat moves.

I went here for dinner well it was more like a snack, then dinner. The concept very nice. It was also a beautiful night so that was a plus. I had the lobster roll and fries and another person had the scallops and fries. Very over priced for what you get. I love NY and frequent many restaurants all over the city however I doubt if I return. Very small portion and over priced drinks but again it's NY. Maybe a happy hour option would be better.

I came here for lunch and it was freezing! It was not possible to reschedule to a warmer day because Resy charges you $25 per person to reserve a table and you lose the entire deposit if you cancel within 24 hours. So we came and froze our butts off. There were no heat lamps, instead we were offered blankets. One of the blankets had a huge stain on it, we asked for another one and waited for 40 min just to get another one.
Luckily, the food was good. I had the lobster roll, it did not come with fries so I ordered fries seperately. The amount of lobster in the lobster roll was good, considering it was $36.
We also got charged $7.50 for "charity water", even though we drank tap water. I asked about it and we were told it was for charity. I later checked my resy email and it did mention charity water was $1 per person. We were a group of 5 so I'm not sure why we were charged $7.50 instead of $5... inflation? Also I did not see anything about charity water in the menu, nor did the waitress tell us anything about it. It just sprung up on the bill and I demanded for it to be removed.
