This is my happy place, a sanctuary of health and wellness, an adult playground I just love this place. I joined this gym in January and its the best investment I've made this year, im a shitty day trader so thats not saying much.
The Yoga studios are so peaceful and the instructors are all masters. Notably Jason Morris hot yoga classes are energizing and therapeutic, he is such a Guru Ive learned so much about anatomy and making a mind body connection that it spills over into weight training. Luliias voice is so soothing and her classes are so fun, the Friday class specially feels like everyone is connected Gigis class is super cool on Sundays it should be renamed Juicy Yoga with Gigi lol, shes so funny and connects with everyone, the class feels like cuddles after sex.
Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes.
Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro.
The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym.
The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Paul R.Cambridge, MA211Sep 27, 2023
Incredible facility. Excellent, helpful staff. I joined for the pool and to rehab after some foot injuries. Between the quality swimming and constant walking through Manhattan, I turned around an injury for the limited periods I could spend in the city. The Gym is open late and its not excessively busy. Some of the teachers are average, some are quite good. Yoga Foundations and Slava the swim coach are A grade. Stroke has improved.
Its almost like a retreat space in that you could swim in a quality 25 yard pool then soak in a hot tub, then walk 10 feet to a veranda area overlooking the hudson and get a tan, or read, or hang out. Expensive but worth it in terms of health improvements, energy, recovery. A Citibike station at the piers would be a game changer! 5 real stars.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - David Z.Freehold, NJ01120Feb 3, 2024
I used to love this club, and still do in someways, but somebody is holding guests hostage with loud , usually hip-hop & rap music blaring in the common area as you walk in. A lot of Drake, Jay-Z etc. It is totally unnecessary in the age of air pods and, especially in a place where most guests are trying to get work done on their laptops! Also, nobody there seems interested in reminding members to not drop weights. It sounds like distant artillery when you're in the men's changing room down below. There's so many things I love about this place but I've seen the cleanliness and respectfulness of the guests here deteriorate in the past year. Sadly, I'm actively considering Equinox now.

I love this gym but someone always plays there music really loud on a blown out speaker and it's always drake from some reason.
I'm canceling my membership after one year. The price went up fin a year! Although their trainers and onsite staff are all great, the membership department (except the guy who signed me up but left the gym) is beyond disappointing.
I contacted the membership staff over the email asking about the increased fee, one day later they called me during my meetings, left a voice message says they'd reply to my email to follow up. Never did! I called up the number they left me, no one picks up.
I love this gym but the membership department is only nice to you when they try to sign you up.Helpful 5Thanks 3Love this 3Oh no 2 - Brooklyn B.Los Angeles, CA4327646Dec 12, 2023
The monthly membership is high compared to other gyms - but worth it for the location and amenities. Pools, sundeck, and saunas are a must grab in NYC. You can literally spend an entire day here. Enjoy the environment, work out, and grab some grub!

I was a member here for many years and decided to rejoin after receiving a mail that I could rejoin at the current price and without an initiation fee. When I went to pay, they were charging me a "deposit" of $250 (which will not be applied to my current membership fee). This was never mentioned in the many "please come back" emails I've received. This is not honest marketing; no other gym does this. They l'll get it back if I decide to quit but essentially they're asking for a free loan. No thanks.

Update 1/11/22:
Hi Joe, our Member Services Consultant said he'd reach out again. Our new operating system has been experiencing continued errors that we've reported back to them and are still waiting for them to resolve. Unfortunately, it is out of our control, but we are on top of it and are sincerely sorry for the trouble this has caused you. We value you as a member and appreciate that you took the time to say you love the facility and us!
Hi Joe, We deeply apologize for the inconvenience as we work through some technical difficulties with our new operating system. You will be receiving an email shortly.Jan 11, 2022Previous reviewVery upset about multiple billing errors, now 3 months in a row. I love the facility but this kind of thing is amateurish and unprofessional. In November, my account was blocked for non payment even though funds had been debited several days earlier. Last month, I was double billed. Today, my account was blocked for non payment again even though funds were debited. Each time has required me to call to complain. This was never a problem in the past - I've been a member since 2015.
Dec 3, 2021Previous reviewI love guys dearly, but your billing snafus are getting tiresome. A few weeks ago you blocked my account for non payment even through the funds had clearly been deducted a few days earlier. Today you deducted an additional $224 from my account on top of the regular member dues. I've sent a screenshot to fitness@chelseapiers.com. The receptionist assured me that this will be fixed, and I appreciate that. But this is not acceptable.

The pool is terrible. It is cloudy and even though you have to register for a time slot, it's not respected. It can be super crowded. They don't always use certified lifeguards. In fact some lifeguards don't swim at all.
There was weeks where there was no hot water in the dressing rooms. For $3,000 you'd expect at least hot water. The front desk is nice but not properly trained. Also the music as you walk in is blaring.
The work out area does have new equipment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 16, 2021
I loved the variety of amenities available: boxing ring, track, climbing, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, cardio machines, weights, sand volleyball court, basketball courts, sun deck, showers, sauna, steam room, and other.
I came here mainly for its climbing. There is a section on the climbing wall that is extremely horizontal and I am not used to it at the moment. I run out of stamina very fast, atm. I need more work to do to up my game and get more stamina to withstand this type of horizontal climbing
The walls are old and not conventional compared to modern gyms. On the other hand, they are quite interesting because it has textures that could be useful or tricky in the climbing
I usually go swimming after climbing to relax my muscles. Very helpful
The shower and locker rooms are quite luxurious, clean, spacious, and it offers lots of amenities like free towel, robes, gel, shampoo, qtips, lotion, hair dryer, and other. There's a sauna and steam room inside in each male/female section
Membership is definitely worth it. I come here on discounted day pass from member. There is an option that if you know a member and the member brings you in then you can get discounted day passes. Should consider this alternative instead of going for full membership : )Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jonathan C.SoMa, San Francisco, CA01Feb 17, 2023
I'm a content creator and making fitness workout videos while wearing other brands is what I do.
I appreciate how well-crafted Chelsea Piers machines are. I enjoy making content, importantly, making sure I get a good workout in. I am a planner. I called Chelsea Piers in Brooklyn. I talked to a young lady around the morning to figure out the price for a day pass. I was pleased to know the price. This afternoon, I made my way to Brooklyn,
to later find out the day pay was more money.
Chelsea Piers Brooklyn staff wouldn't take my cash, and I didn't have a bank card. What is upsetting, more than anything is to tell me to come when I can figure things out in a dismissive tone. If willing to pay $62 for JUST A DAY, then treating me like a potential lead to become a member should have been prioritized, not treating me like I am taking up space.
I will never come back, the gym is beautiful, but there is a coldness with the staff.Helpful 10Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 6
