A vehicle crashed into the Stonybrook Family Restaurant at 3560 E. Market St. in Springettsbury Township Tuesday morning, according York Area United Fire Fire & Rescue.

Restaurant employees said a man driving an older Jeep Comanche pick-up truck was backing out of a parking space on the side of the restaurant when another was pulling into the parking lot. Instead of hitting the brakes, employees said, the man stepped on the gas and backed into a corner of the restaurant.

"It sounded like a bomb," said the employee, who didn't want to be identified.

YAUFR battalion Chief Matt Russ said the pickup took out two windows and the brick wall below the windows. The restaurant was closed briefly as firefighters shored up the corner of the building and called in a building inspector to examine the damage, Russ said.

One woman inside the restaurant was taken to York Hospital as a precaution, Russ said. The driver of the pickup, who was not identified, was uninjured, he said.
