World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev upset top-ranked Jannik Sinner in a dramatic five-set thriller in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Tuesday, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.
Medvedev and Sinner helped set a Grand Slam record in the process.

The pair of one-time major victors squared off in the 2024 Australian Open final in January, with Sinner capturing a five-set win, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. With the match going the distance, they not only tied a 41-year-old record, but Sinner's title made him the first first-time Grand Slam winner since Carlos Alcaraz at the 2022 U.S. Open as well.
Medvedev, meanwhile, was the 2021 U.S. Open champion, but despite coming close to another Grand Slam singles crown, he's yet to return to glory.
In addition to his heartbreaker "down under" earlier this year against Sinner, Medvedev also blew a 2-0 lead against Rafael Nadal in the 2022 Australian Open final.
He'll play Alcaraz in the semifinals on Friday.
