PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Robert Kelley and Alyssa Kelley were arrested after police discovered a woman who was disabled had been reportedly abused and neglected.

On July 3, deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department were called out to a home on KY-194.

According to the arrest citation, deputies received a complaint from a man about his mother being neglected and not being taken care of.

The man told police the last he had heard from his mother she had open leg wounds.

When police arrived at the home, they smelled body odor emitting from the home and saw roaches inside.

After they found the disabled woman, police noticed sores on both of her legs.

Police also noticed bugs were infesting both of the woman’s legs.

In the arrest citation, Robert and Alyssa Kelley would put a sheet over the woman in her chair and cover her with it, stating the sheet would keep the bugs and roaches from getting on her while she was sleeping.

The woman told police that she wanted out of the care of the two immediately.

After EMS arrived at the home, the woman was taken to Pikeville Medical Center for medical treatment.

Robert and Alyssa Kelley were charged with knowingly abuse/neglect of adult by person.

They were taken to the Pike County Detention Center.
