Community action agency names executive director

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - LKLP Community Action Council, Inc. announced Tawny R. Acker as its new executive director on Monday.

For 17 years, Acker has worked in LKLP Administration as the Program Development Director.

“This was a long process, but I know we made the right decision for the Agency and the community.” said Corbett Mullins, board chair of LKLP Community Action. “I welcome Ms. Acker in her new role, and I am looking forward to working with her as the Executive Director of LKLP.”

Previously, Acker served as an assistant professor and Director of Student Support Services at Hazard Community and Technical College.

Acker is currently a board member of the Knott County Long Term Disaster Recovery Group and a member of the Hazard-Perry County Women’s Club.

“I am humbled, honored, and blessed to lead LKLP into a new era of growth and service to our communities,” said Ms. Acker, new Executive Director of LKLP Community Action. “LKLP has a wonderful, dedicated staff and Board of Directors, and I am looking forward to working with them to further our mission and impact.”

Acker lives in Knott County and is a Letcher County native.
