A former southern Kentucky police chief was sworn in as a commonwealth's detective for the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office out of the 34th Judicial Circuit.(Ronnie Bowling)

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Wayne Bird was sworn in as a detective for the 34th District Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

The announcement was made Tuesday morning on social media. Bird is a former police chief of the Williamsburg Police Department, lieutenant detective for the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, and was a patrolman with the Corbin Police Department.
