WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man was convicted of attempted murder, theft by unlawful taking, and fleeing and evading in the Whitley Circuit Court, according to the Whitley County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Tommy Kemper was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Judge Hon. Paul Winchester.

Kemper was involved in a vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle, when he intentionally struck a Kentucky State Police detective in an attempt to run away from authorities.

Kemper left the scene following the crash.
