Man, woman arrested following drug investigation in Wayne Co.
WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Two Monticello people are facing charges after deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics.
A search warrant was obtained, which led police to a home on Kelley Lane Road.
This was a home known to law enforcement as being a place for drug trafficking in the past.
According to police, the search warrant was executed at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Jared Gregory, of Monticello, was arrested after police found four bags of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Police also seized a Taurus 9mm handgun, a Remington and a Mossberg 22 LR caliber rifles, several new plastic baggies, a set of digital scales and four tablets known to be Gabapentin.
Gregory was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree (greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (drug unspecified).
Police later discovered that the crystal substance they found tested positive as being methamphetamine, which weighed a total of 48.43 grams.
Amy Chaplin, of Monticello, was also arrested and was charged with possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (drug unspecified) after admitting some of the items belonged to her.
Gregory and Chaplin were taken to the Wayne County Detention Center.
