OMAHA, NE (WYMT) - The Cats’ magically historical season was ended by the hands of the Florida Gators in an elimination game at the College World Series on Wednesday, June 19.

Nick Lopez drove in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, which gave the Cats a 1-0 early lead.

Unfortunately, the game unraveled directly afterwards in the bottom of the first inning.

Dominic Niman got in trouble quickly, giving up two doubles, a single, and a HBP.

This led to UK falling behind, 7-1, at the end of the first.

UK was able to close the gap to as close as four runs off a two-run home run by Emilien Pitre, but it was not enough.

Ultimately, Florida ended Kentucky’s first Men’s College World Series run with a 15-4 victory.
