CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - At least two businesses in a southern Kentucky town were the victims of crime earlier this week, and police are looking to see if there is a connection.

A hardware store suffered a lot of losses while someone also broke into a beauty salon.

Corbin Police are looking into the events in the downtown area on Main Street, which is where the businesses are.

What happened at each business was different but it has left troubling scenarios and a lot of money has been lost.

Alicia Bullock with Alicia’s Cuts and Conversations said she came to work Tuesday morning and discovered an odd sight within her store.

Items were taken and stacked in a garbage can and some other things were missing.

Police were called and they said at about the same time, someone with WD Bryant ACE Hardware had reported that a delivery truck, lawn mowers, and a pressure washer was stolen.

Bullock said they did not take anything of significant monetary value from her, but actual items that are truly priceless.

“My dad’s first dollar, my dad’s first dollar that he ever made, from 60 some years ago,” Bullock said. “He had been packing it around that long. And he died 3 years ago. They got that.”

Police said they do not have suspects or persons or interest but a surveillance video did pick up a photo of a man in a black coat. It is not known if he was alone or if others were with him.

Police said the items taken from the hardware store were likely worth more than $40,000.
