KSP investigating deadly crash in Rockcastle Co.
ROCKCASTLE CO., Ky. (WYMT) - One person has died following a crash in Rockcastle County.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers were notified of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 70 at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
In KSP’s preliminary investigation, it showed that Charles E. Northern, 59, of Mt. Vernon, was heading west on Kentucky Highway 70 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of Sandra L. Whitaker, 56, of Mt. Vernon.
Whitaker suffered injuries she could not overcome and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner.
Northern was flown out to Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Northern was driving a 2024 Chevy Silverado while Whitaker was behind the wheel of a 2017 Chevy Traverse.
