HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Gov. Andy Beshear (D), who is running for re-election, made campaign stops across Eastern Kentucky on Monday.

As part of his ‘Go Vote Tour,’ he stopped in London, Hazard and Salyersville to meet with supporters.

Beshear’s senior advisor Rocky Adkins joined him on the tour, along with his wife Britainy and other Democratic candidates running in state races.

The governor said he is focused on revitalizing the region after flooding in July 2022.

“I care about each and every one of these families, and our chance to do more than rebuild, but really to revitalize, to build entire new neighborhoods and bring hundreds upon hundreds of new jobs,” said Beshear.

His work since the flood is something supporters are pointing to as a reason for the governor to be re-elected.

“He or Rocky or somebody from his administration has been here pretty much every week doing something related to flood relief,” said Zack Hall, who lives in Hazard and is supporting Beshear.

”For me, I look at his term as a whole and the things that he’s had to overcome, and think there has been, between the tornadoes in Mayfield, and the Covid virus and also the flooding in Eastern Kentucky. The way he handled himself, and the way he’s been present in all those places,” said Hazard small business owner Mandi Sheffel.

Gov. Beshear will be making more stops before Election Day, including in Prestonsburg and Pikeville.
