Peyton Furtado

Anchor

Peyton Furtado joined WYFF News 4 in August 2022 as a reporter. She started as WYFF's morning weekend anchor in January 2024.

Though she was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, Peyton grew up visiting family in Greenville and Simpsonville. She's excited to trade in her Thanksgiving visits for a new home!

Peyton graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2020 with bachelor's degrees in both media and journalism and dramatic arts, winning the university's 2020 Mangum Medal for public speaking.

She returned to Wilmington at the beginning of the pandemic, working as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor for two years. While in North Carolina, she covered a range of stories, including a hospital cover-up of poor working conditions, a mass shooting, and feature pieces on interesting people in the region. Her story about a 150-year-old marriage license found in a thrift store and reunited with the owner's granddaughter made national and international news.

Peyton is an outspoken supporter of suicide prevention and was a guest on the Dr. Phil Show after her brother died by suicide in 2022. Peyton married Taylor, her middle school crush, in November 2021. She enjoys musical theater, good food, and biking the Swamp Rabbit Trail with her husband.

You can wake up and watch Peyton on WYFF News 4 Saturday and Sunday mornings. If you have any story ideas or suggestions, please reach out via email at Peyton.Furtado@hearst.com or on Twitter or Facebook.
