Taniqua Pennix

Reporter

Taniqua Pennix joined the WYFF News 4 team as a reporter in April 2024.

She was born in Queens, NY but spent most of her childhood in Alabama. She spent her later years in Columbia, SC and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelors degree in Journalism and Mass Communications.

After college, she didn’t immediately start her career in news. She worked with the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands and worked as a teacher’s assistant at an elementary school. Then she moved to New York City where she worked as a videographer for Baruch College.

When she returned to news, she started behind the scenes as a Technical Director at WACH Fox, in Columbia. Quickly after, she began her career as a Multi-media Journalist at CBS 4 News in Gainesville Florida. Her next stop took her up north to Albany, NY where she worked as a reporter for WNYT NewsChannel 13. In Albany, she was nominated for an Emmy for her contribution and reporting in an hour long news special detailing the uptick in violent crimes against Asian Americans and the issues facing the AAPI community.

When Taniqua’s not working she loves spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing, and just laughing and having a good time. Taniqua’s fiancé is from Spartanburg. They’re excited to call Greenville home, and she’s looking forward to all the area has to offer.
