Dale Gilbert

Meteorologist

Meteorologist Dale Gilbert was born in Cumberland, Md., in 1951 and lived in Canada until he was 5 years old. His family then moved to Rock Hill, S.C., where he grew up.

Dale graduated from high school and attended the University of South Carolina for two years before going to the Elkins Institute in Atlanta to receive a First Class License in broadcast engineering.

He received his Meteorology degree from Mississippi State.

Dale has been involved in broadcasting in the Upstate since 1971, primarily in radio. He has worked for several stations in the Greenville market including WFBC, WESC, WLFJ and WMYI.

He worked for WYFF News 4 as a weather reporter on weekends before joining the newsroom full-time in 1994. Dale's forecasts can be seen each weekday morning on WYFF News 4 Today

beginning at 4:30 a.m. and on News 4 at noon.

In his spare time, Dale stays busy doing other voice recording work and sports announcing. He is the football and basketball public address announcer for the Clemson Tigers.

Dale and his wife, Trudie, have four children and eight grandchildren.  He is a popular speaker and narrator and frequently is invited to participate in programs for area churches, schools and community groups.
