Jamya Reed

Reporter

Jamya Reed joined the WYFF News 4 team as a reporter in October 2022. She was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Bowie, Maryland.

Jamya received her associate degree from Prince George’s Community college, majoring in mass communications. She went on to graduate from Towson University, with a major in communication studies and a double minor in business communication and liberal arts.

In 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jamya accepted a position as a production assistant at WJLA 7 News in Washington, D.C., then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee to be a multimedia journalist.   While in Tennessee, she covered a variety of stories, including the effects of gun violence on families, homelessness, local connections to the war on Ukraine, and highlights of service within the Chattanooga community. Jamya’s reports on migrants traveling by bus across the U.S. and a physical altercation in a Chattanooga church were both featured in the national news.

Jamya has five brothers and enjoys music, movies, trying new restaurants and hobbies. She quickly fell in love with Greenville and is proud to now call it home. If you have any story ideas, feel free to email her at Jamya.Reed@hearst.com.
